THE BIGGEST COLLAB IN MARIO MAKER HISTORY

This is the biggest collab project in Super Mario Maker 2 history! It features 35 levels made by over 100 people, including 22 full length troll levels, a really cool website, secret codes hidden in the levels, an incredible story, and never before seen game-breaking glitches! This is the most fun I've ever had playing SMM2~ it is hard to overstate just how wonderful this super world is, it made me cry laughing and then tear up at how wonderful this community is. This first video is just the beginning of the journey, enjoy!

I like how the garbo world was distilled enough that it was enjoyable. The dev exit vine on the left is funny, but it doesn't last long. The yolo jump gag was also great! Acknowledging all of the pieces without actually making the level that painful was artful

I get their point about levels being banned too freely, but there’s another perspective people never see: When you put in a code for a troll level, you know what you’re signing up for and consent to being trolled. When someone happens upon one in Endless mode their run ends and it’s not fun for them at all. Maybe if Nintendo had a way to mark levels to never be shown in endless or while browsing, it’d be better.

This is so true and what can make the thing come across as just preachy or wrong. I can use the same argument as a level with a bunch of swears or threats. It isn't just the person who enjoys it but everyone else. And most of Nintendo's audience is casuals or kids where glitches can make them get upset and stop playing. Everyone could win with a troll tag. ...just like if Nintendo added Night Themes into 3D world and you didn't have to glitch them in. ...or even if Nintendo added in the stone block for carrying clear conditions so it doesn't break by accident. I love MM2 but it is missing key elements shown to the player or even established features. Even now it is still an unfinished game.

I definitely agree that troll levels are awful for endless players (there's a skip button but skipping over and over isn't fun either), and unfun for a lot of other players too, but i want to give a bit of a counterpoint anyway. Nintendo's policy here doesn't target levels for being trolls or for being unenjoyable to play, It's specifically for GLITCHES. I can still upload a level like say, slope 3, which is awful to play, would ruin an endless no skip run, and just generally sucks with no fear of it being taken down. On top of that, you would expect levels that have glitches to be better on average than ones that don't. We often use them for trolling, but glitches and complex setups can be used for more traditional levels that anyone can enjoy. Whatever genre of level someone is making, it will take more time and experience to learn about the weird interactions and "glitches" that can be used to make more complex or interesting levels. But this is also how you get your level taken down. End result is that rather than filtering out unfun levels, the policy leaves garbage alone while targeting creators who spent more time with the game.

Some funny pranks: break into house, cut all phone lines in house, cut up couch cushions, and flip them over so they look perfectly normal!; shoot a hole in their fish tank, slash clothes, then put them back into the drawer; unplug fridge; set thermostat way up to 99.9C; leave drain plugged and let the faucet run just a little, (for 6 hours!!); whatever you can't take or carry out, destroy in a subtle way, -if you can't carry out those 130 lb. wood case stereo speakers, slash the cones; break ball-point pens open and rub them into the carpet with their shoes; run a magnet over audio and VCR cassettes and floppies. Best one: wait until they leaves for vacation or whatever and get about 4 friends; disassemble one of their cars, then reassemble it in the living room.
