Galactic made a few bad moves, knight to d2 was a opportune move forcing a rook or queen loss. That one move would have been a game changer for him.

makes sense: After loosing his queen black can give check on e1 (in stead of giving up) - if then white goes to h2 black will win back queen with a bishop-fork on e5 - Carlson is just pointing he can block with his bishop instead of moving to h2.

Why is bishop E5 at 8:04 not the right move for galactic?
@whataboutthis10
@whataboutthis10 5 жыл бұрын
He played Qc7 probably because he thought it's better, by winning a rook (eg Qc7, Nf3, f6). But if he takes, he has R against N&B, a bad position and at least a lost ending. And moreover Magnus also still has the attack: Bxe5, Qxe5, Qf8, Nxc6 - threatening Ne7, or advance the pawns, take also on d5..

@Ewidar
@Ewidar 5 жыл бұрын
not really, Qf4 attacks the knight and the rook, so if black takes on f1, white takes back on e5. It looks better for white as he has better control of the center and black needs to waste a move to get the knight out of harm.
