She has really helped me break through with my cousin who has autism. Now, even though he doesn't talk back, I feel like I can talk to him about completely normal things because I fully believe that he understands what I'm saying. He's a singer, like me, and sometimes I'll start singing some classic song and he starts singing with me and surprises everyone, even his parents. Thanks Carly!! :0)

I saw it too. It is a huge problem when people treat people with Autism like they aren't smart. Carly is smarter than that interviewer and a lot of people, yet because she can't control her body movements she is treated like a 5 year old who exhibit similar body movements. I have Aspergers and I am treated this way too by people because I do not make eye contact. We have to know we are gifted and smart and Carly has been an inspiration to me to rise above it as she did here.

I do not understand how people can leave such horrible comments, maybe its because they fear the unknown. If you cannot say something positive then keep quite. Also DO YOU HAVE TO SWEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!. I hope that you will not have a child like this because you are incapable of dealing with yourself let alone a child in need of understanding ..............(bluecolour78, Dong-Hong Phuck). Carly, I salute you

I cannot believe some of the comments below. You have got to be so pathetic, narrow minded and just...cruel...How can you not just salute this young lady for her perseverance. She is amazing. If you are so willing to down grade someone like this young lady, you must be a REALLY sad soul. You should get some professional help for your obvious issues with your own self worth...I'm JUST SAYING...

With respect to the host, for I see Carly likes her a lot and they are probably very helpful to each other, there were still nevertheless moments here when I felt like the host was talking to her as a much younger child, rather than the bright 16 year old she is. I know she didn't mean any harm, but the way she was telling her what a smart girl she was (3.45 onwards), the way she thanked her for being her girlfriend (listen back to it, it may not be clear from my type alone), was like you would talk to a preteen. I don't pretend I have any right to interpret Carly, but I did wonder (just wonder, I can't know from that alone) at 3.53ish, when she was talking to her about what a smart girl she was, that she looked less happy (possibly because of the tone of voice) than at other points of the conversation. Carly has said numerous times she gets tired of being treated differently, or as less intelligent than she is. Just a minor point to bear in mind when talking to those with autism, because even when people are trying to be nice, they can be accidentally patronising.

I have ADHD and I can speak but went to a Special Ed School here in New Jersey so I have alot of friends that have Autism and I know what it feels like when I see people that can't speak. Thanks to devices such as the iPad, and computer programs like Dragon Natually Speaking people with ASD now can communicate with people as these products weren't around when I went to school. My ex-girlfriend's brother has Autism and I knew the struggle that her parents had with him so I seen it close up!

Am I the only one who thinks that Carly probably feels that her interviewer is being extremely condescending. From just her responses it is easy to tell that she is highly intelligent, and this reporter asks her for a high five at the end. She isn't a five year old, she just speaks with a computer, show her some respect.

The interviewer's child is Autistic and she has worked with autism foundations for many years and has put an amazing amount of money into those foundations. She is probably used to working with younger people. When you work with younger disabled people you get used to talking and acting a certain way and it is hard to snap out of it.

I totally agree....But I find t difficult to watch most daytime tv because they are invariably very patronsing...If you read Carlys tweets etc you'll see she doesnt suffer fools!!! I hate the way they say so presumptuously ''Youre my friend!!!'' just cos theyre on some show - that is an insult to friendship!!!This girl is way clever and will learn to deal with this sickly treatment.....

Maybe they've already asked Carly if this is OK. There are so many things that go on back stage. And why shouldn't she get to enjoy people's gratitude? She said she wants to be a normal kid, maybe she's said she's OK with this.

Now I under stand . Carly is just another human that suffer from distractions . Not distractions that what we see or hear or smell but of the repeated distractions all at the same time over and over I is like having a photographic memory that repeats its self over and over on top of each other in all senses . Thinking on this distressed idea we cant wrap or heads around this in two dimensions . I think it would be like living in four or even more dimensions in a three dimensions world . It would be like everything that come at you at once and that repeats it self long after that moment has ended . That in it self would be like hell and painful . But now we under stand this or should I say who i see it then I can deal with it and under stand it and maybe treatment can be made for it . But right now the doctors are quacks in treating this . This is not a form of OCD and should never be treated as such . The doctor or treatment company should be sued for even attempting this . It was all about greed on the Insurance company and the greedy doctors . I feel sorry for what they did to this young lady . They had given Carly the death sentence . Not for the cure or to help her pain but to end the contract . This is how our government and the people that controls our world are . Evil SOB . These people worship the devil . If you want to call them the Illuminati . The Rockefeller . 1% ers that OK . This soul is a wast to them and must be ended . But as long as the parent of this lady is flipping the bill and they are making money on it they will keep her alive . Every one has a price and we pay that price with our children when they are born . Each and every baby has a birth certificate and that Birth certificate is a contract or bond . Those bonds or contract can be sold out the free market . People that are born of no use then they will be given a death warrant one way or the other . Our country is a group of other countries that formed the one world government that is always keeping things in check . As fare back as the Romans and into the modern times of the 1700 century . Just look in the names of people that handle money not your local banker but the real people that control our government money and the people that own the presses all are Jews .

It's easy to judge people's reaction and difficulty relating to people such as Carly, so, while I agree about the seemingly condescending attitude of her friend, it's not only people like Carly who need a break, but everyday ordinary people who might make a mistake. And that, folks, is every one of us. Suck it up. :)

Some autistic people don't like being touched for long periods of time (my autistic sister hates it). That's why autistic kids will scream when their parents hold them and hate being hugged. I'm not sure if this is true of Carly. But she might prefer high fives to hugs. The interviewer looks like she's going for a hug at 5:48, but Carly pulls away. Just saying.

Carly, have you ever tried to interact with other autistic people over a computer? Do you think that maybe other autistic people may be "stuck" in a body and are unable to communicate but are intelligent? To a point, I believe that some people may be "stuck" in their mind unwillingly, with a less physical conscious but a larger thought process. At least that's how I feel day-to-day having issues communicating with the average person.
