If you've met one person with autism, you've met one person with autism. Having mild autism your told "you don't look autistic". No, well what the f*ck would you know!

Labels that define our identity are a crutch for the vast majority of those who use them. Identifying our self as belonging to a nation, or a church, or a mental illness - acts an excuse to set our standard and potential as less than Infinite. When our habit is to hoard self-pity, self-medication, or self-sufficiency, these labels are as a scapegoat; an apparent ‘get-out-of-sin-free’ card.

So autistics are entitled and ungrateful and moody and lack perspective? I’m not sure this video, however good the production values does a fair service to those with autism.
@dynamiclizard10983 ай бұрын
This was meant to portray the fact that she can’t tell others what she really wants, not to make autistic people seem ungrateful

Carly, thank you for making this video. It really helps us understand your thoughts and feelings. Can you have it captioned? I would like to share it with my colleagues, but my agency says I can't when it is only auto-captioned. Thank you.

I have Class 3 ASD was born non verbal have hypersensory perception in all 8 of my senses start hearing at a negative 18 Db and have 1 mile hearing range develop seizures blindness and paralysis from loud noise and HATE portrayals of Autism as some horrible disease. I am proud to be Autistic. I do not need your pity. I need accommodations. Accommodations like you not yelling and making loud noise next to me not using bright buzzing lights and not flying helicopters over my home. Keep smoke from your grill fire pit and cigarettes to yourselves too.

I'm balling happiness 😭 I'm so happy for you and I am so happy you give a little voice to those who don't. I will follow and learn from you. Please reach out to chat if you want to. My son is on the spectrum he is 4 and I know how smart he is we just haven't been able to figure out communication for him yet as he struggles with speaking. We are currently using a device with the program LAMP on it to help and its so wonderful. I look forward to the days he's telling us jokes. He physically jokes with us (lots of sarcasm in his facial expressions at times)❤

I was nonverbal too. I am now a verbal human. I personally think all humans are strange and we autists are the normal ones.

Ooo, apparently she's same age as me. 28 years old. I also have ASD high function. But I don't remember if I act that way when I was young. Maybe my autism is lighter? And also we've been to psychiatrist, hiking, riding a horse, special school and stuff when I was young. So when anyone meet me I'm probably seen as shy, calm and introvert lady 😊 ~From Bandung, Indonesia

l am a 'high functioning autistic'. inordinate powers of recollection and way above avg knack for numbers. treated like utter DIRT by primary school 'teachers' (the single quote as in 'as if' they teach). bounced from grade 3 into 3-4 class which had already covered long division. but l didnt know how to do it so once again lm categorized as a dummy. so l reverse engineered the process, got a little bit better understanding each time one of the 'star pupils' did their thing on the blackboard. instinctively knew there would be something left over so that didnt confuse things. pretty much same thing all thru school. treated like DIRT by officialdom. the BIGGEST 'handicap' for an autie IS THE WAY WE ARE TREATED BY A DISCRIMINATORY SNAP JUDGEMENT SOCIETY. meh. their loss. l even used my autism to get FULL DISABILITY PENSION at 57 !!! EIGHT YEARS before usual age. ha ha ha !!!!
