Thank you Carly, so many good friends bought and loved your music. Your song, You're So Vain brings back special memories. As a person, the song helped me to think about how to reach out and help others. To think about what I do and why and where. A few times this meant taking a risk to help others and I did. Even though there was a real danger to me as a private citizen. It also at times made me think about some really powerful, elite greedy types who injured mine or others work . So thank you again, Carly.

"You're so Vain" was played every ten minutes on AM radio in early 1973. Driving to town I'd hear it twice, minimum. I remember pulling over and leaning to the speaker when the chorus was coming up, trying to decide if one backup singer was Mick Jagger (DON't you , DON't you)

I was like 9 years old and my parents turned me on to the Stones(I ate it up, saw e in concert when I was like 7/8). So You're So Vain comes on and I was like you... I stopped doing chores or whatever it was and glued myself to the radio once I heard Jagger's voice. So every time that dreamy into came on the world stopped. Yeah good times.

I was about 22. I lost my job, I was divorced, my mom and dad moved away within a week. Her voice, her song is haunting, strong, fantastic. I don't hear it often but when it comes on, it's like a time tunnel and I crave the words and song but it places me in a terrible time in my life. I feel the loneliness, being lost, and this song. And when it finishes I'm tired and come back to where I am. But hollow for a bit. I'm 74, and tired, what a great song.

So +garry england, guess the anti-anxiety meds aren't getting it done? Misogyny is such a brutal mistress, eh gar? But really, I don't doubt your twisted, moronic and quite sad depiction of this woman are heartfelt and true...to you. Thing is these words you use to describe her age awa the physical, mental, financial, sexual and moral aspects of Carly Simon and/or how she chooses to live her life are moot-irrelevant, not worth discussing. Sure as late as the 1950s, later still in some places, these shaming words would have been sufficient to kill a career awa to cast a woman from proper society. Trouble is, crazy 'ol gar, many of us past a certain age are a bit shriveled; most of us have had more than the socially allowed (what ever that is) # of life-time sex partners; oral sex is no longer a crime, in fact since Seinfeld in the '90s its been considered a regular step of foreplay...you know about foreplay, don'tcha gar? When your cell mate says, "Roll over punk"? Many of us have been through times of financial want, no sin there. As for that final string of colorful adjectives, none of them matter. Unless...hmmm, gary? May I just ask a question? I've been hard on you here...but I may be in error judging you so harshly. Its the last word you wrote, HYPOCRITE, that gives me pause here. Gary?...do you think Carly Simon really did write this song about you? Did the 3000 letters you wrote to her go unanswered? Has she been so rude...so cruel and unresponsive...so, oh-so-smiling-and-nice-and-friendly in the public eye yet continues to ignore you? Has this comment been dredged from deep in your inner-most scarred psyche, an angry wounded raging howl of despair? Oh well, gar...join the club. Sucks being you dude. Good luck in the future!

Her looks are so stunning, I think I'd have difficulty listening to her in a face-to-face conversation because I'm so stricken by her beauty. Still would love to meet her.

I have no idea what she's saying. But she knows what she is saying and really expresses the multi - faceted reality of constructing a self acceptable end product after going through the fazes of recollecting self historical experiences, current perceptions, and goals, and then choosing the most efficient (according to self or audience) way to do that. Congrats!

The Martha's vineyard concert was sound and sight beautiful. So glad it was so well captured. I like when a musician explains their writing process. I was so surprised that Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics first then Elton put them to music. Seems Carly was somewhat similar.
