As a young teenager, my family listened to such amazing artists as Carly Simon, Carole King, Andy Williams, and Barbra Streisand. Simon is an iconic artist and a tremendous role model for young women.

Carly is one of the most genuine artists out there. For someone who suffers from stage fright she has always had amazing stage presence. Seems so at ease on stage. Reminds of Agnetha/ABBA who also suffered stage fright but just wow'd every audience.

Oh I completely agree, so many of our famous artists were so articulate, David Bowie and Freddie Mercury for example. The lyrics were outstanding, and the use of grammar and creative writing is incredible to hear.

Just one more of those extremely rare, special, one-of-a-kind people who come along periodically who funcion as open channels for those amzing and beautiful gifts that come from that other space. I guess that's one definition of a true artist which she, definitely, is. I can't think of anyone in my experience who speaks with such clarity and specificity. There is a spare brightness about the way she puts words together and expresses herself in conversation which then doesn't surprise me that she weaves words and messages so beautifully into her music and writing

Carly Simon and Melanie are not yet inducted in the Rock&Roll Hall Of Fame.. So sad and pathetic .Bobbie Gentry suffered the ultimate 'boys club' backlash for writing and producing her last album in 1971. She retreated to Vegas, made a huge fortune and retired early on her own terms..

He's my favorite singer but she's the more talented vocalist imo. His songs make you feel healed. Hers make you relate. I love Carly but James is my fav singer and favorite songs (esp his 70s released greatest hits).

That is the truth. My mother ran the house, but the worst words we could ever hear from her was, "Wait til your father comes home!" When we were younger she took care us on the spot with quick wack, or worse (for the older brother) with a bar of soap in his mouth. They were in 100% compliance, towards us kids, and it worked to perfection, but concerning all matters, my dad was the boss.

I think she's talking about a mature relationship and commitment, such as in marriage. Whether running a business or a home, there needs to be an ultimate authority. And like Carly said, there may be a division of who's in charge of what, but she is absolutely correct about this.

There should NEVER be a hierarchy in any human relationship. That is a very archaic view. No human should have to answer to another human. Relationships broke down in patriarchal societies as well. There should never be a boss because it creates imbalance and allows for bullying and spousal abuse. It also puts pressure on a man. Each person should being their strengths to a relationship. I am very surprised at this woman to make such a statement who is an influential figure but if that works in her marriage so well and good but it must not be advocated for everybody. I think this is her second marriage though

The interviewer asked about why people are not better at relationships . .? I was walking with some people and they were carrying on and on about how a community Doctor was busted with a mistress , . I broke in and said- All of you are carrying on as if adultry was just discovered. It has been going on for e v e r and people still react as if it was a newly invented crime. It has been going on a n d accepted/condemned for all this time, with equal fervor. Collectivelly, people have evolved regarding wrong/right. Individually however, people still try to get away with the s a m e o l d things. , and do! Just not so much.

Ephesians, chapter 5 (I think) would be a good start. Maybe chapter six? Proverbs chapter 31 gives a description of what is a wonderful wife. We all want to be loved, but a woman NEEDS to be loved, and a man NEEDS to be respected. Hope something I've written helps a little bit.

Her father was voted off the board of the co that bore his name. There was a time when he struggled very much financially. Don’t make assumptions just because of the name. And it’s not necessarily easily. And she suffered from all sorts of emotional problems...stage fright, manic depression, anxiety, that all lead to huge mountains she had to climb
