I think people are confused on the theme. The theme was a part 2 of last years. Last year it was In America: A Lexicon of Fashion and this year it was In America: An Anthology of Fashion. Hence why Kim wore the Marylin dress. I think the theme just sucked and wasn't clear enough and then people(and the media) started saying the theme was gilded age when that and white tie were just the dress code not the theme. Ex. In 2019 the theme was Camp: Notes on Fashion but the dress code was studied triviality (makes no sense) in 2018 which was heavenly bodies the dress code was Sundays best

I feel like you guys actually didn’t get the theme lol the gilded age was during that time period, but it was about the facade of a thin gold gilding on top of the huge social and political problems happening at the time. It was also a huge boom of immigration and immigrant workers, womens suffrage, prohibition, post civil war era… material excess during a time of enormous poverty. The met isn’t always about being obvious with the theme… I actually like the ones that are more subtle theme but still over the top. Watch the interviews. They discuss their attire and how they relate to the theme. I know this is supposed to just be a fun video but please at least know a little bit about what you’re talking about before you make a video on it.

The theme was NOT Gilded Age. The theme was a second part to the MET late 2021. The theme was “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.” The dress code was Gilded Glamour/ White Tie. So in many ways, they were all on theme. The anthology of American Fashion was shown in almost every outfit worn! Super confusing this year, but that theme was absolutely not “Gilded Age”

I was reading that people have misunderstood the actual theme! The theme is supposed to be "In America: An Anthology of Fashion" but the dress code was gilded glamor so I think some people went with gilded glamor but some stuck with the American theme so I think some of the more historical 1900s American dresses do fit the theme, they just didn't tie in the dress code. So cardi for example- perfect dress, She is guilded in gold! And Kim in Marilyn’s dress is her wearing a part of American fashion- therefore fitting the theme.
