This is one of the best Polo GTI 2018 review on KZbin (Thomas from Autogefuhl and Automanns being the other ones - but they weren't so complete as this). The DRLs are not so great I feel. But the actual LED where the main power of the light comes from, is awesome! Especially with the full beam on. I agree it's not worth 1000 Euro, but it makes the car look SO Much better / Aggressive.

The car doesn't have and lsd, so that says a lot about his knowledgse about the GTI. It only has An XDS elektronic lsd with betaling inputs to copy a real lsd. A real lsd is something the fiesta ST and the I20N have. I would love it on the GTI. I still bought one though :-)

Update Incoming: A complete reprogramming of the ECU. 257 Hp (195 Hp stock) at 5322 RPM and 427 nM (318 nM stock) of torque at 2774 RPM. This was measured at 37 degrees Celsius and 65% humidity at sea level (1011 millibars). After the tune the car is a beast. The tune costs 1000Euro with the best tuner. Everyday driving is comfy, but when u step on it - it rips through the gears. MPG is about the same with an average of 6.7 L/ 100 KM for long term driving (average of the last 3 fuel ups). This is the equivalent to 42 mpg (UK) or 15 km /L. The car is from 2018.

2 months, 5000km and this is a fantastic replacement for the Fiesta ST. No regrets I didn’t replace it with another ST. The ride is so much less choppy and I don’t have the tail bone pain anymore after long trips compared to the Ford. Now that I have confidence in it, it goes through corners just as fast but accelerates to higher speed much better. Fuel economy, no comparison. Same driving style I am consistently getting 15-20% better! Plus I don’t need to use 98 Octane. With it being a detuned engine I am happy to put 95 in every third tank. The gearbox is fantastic. My wife used to get neck pain and could never get comfortable, now she is happy to go on long trips in it Downside, not the precise feel in the steering, and a couple of rattles in the front door panels due to the robotic sealing, covered under warranty..

No doubt this is very nice in town outside but i wait because Volkswagen boss stated that next year 2018 they will announce if they going to made the new T-Roc in R-level of trim, and i think that will be better for me.. having a bigger position to see better up-front & much more ground clearance in a capable car since i also go most weekends for outdoors activities like: fishing, kayak, mountain trips to explore caves, in winter snowboarding.. so yeah it will replace nicely previous Yeti that i will give it away for my little sister to use it for herself.. i can't wait to see what decision they will take for the new T-Roc.. even like Golf a GTE version of T-Roc would be nice, so yeah.. fingers crossed ! ;)

My wife ordered a Polo GTI before Xmas. She is now waiting for delivery in April or May. Crazy to order without a single test drive. But the base models were rather good. They just didn't have any engine, only a one liter starter.

I must say that this is the most thorough review out there, I've owned a mk7 GTD for 3 years, currently been driving a A3 black edition S line 2017 plate for 2 and half years, was looking at BMW 1 series, but now quickly falling in love with this 1, got a test drive next week, and you've just confirmed my decision before I drive it lol... Update 2023: So Feb 2023 update. Wet DSG gearbox is going well. Only oil changes and regular maintainence required. Done around 75,000 km with the professional ECU tune / dyno and drives like a dream. No rattles or sqeaks. The fuel efficiency is up to 18.3 km/L now as my commuter route is on country roads. Might have to sell due to personal reasons, but really hope I can keep it around another 5 to 10 yrs as it is going well. Electronics no issues, running with Android Auto and Oneplus 7 Pro phone. Still catches gazes of knowers and car enthusiasts. It's a very popular model in Denmark - and I can totally see why. Buy a used model from 2018 and save a pretty penny although this car is holding up around 80% of its value still (2018-2023). Sounds crazy I know.

Clearly the Polo GTI is nearly all the car that the mark 7.5 Golf GTI is. This implies that The new Golf of 2 years’ time will be moved on/up a little. However, if you spec the New Polo GTI up to current Golf GTI format, then difference in price diminishes somewhat. Golf GTI residuals tend to be amongst the best too.

I've tried the Fiesta ST and loved it. But the Polo feels more grown up, and with the 2,0 Tsi engine it was a no brainer for me. I have a feeling that this car will be a hit in Europe because it's a mini Golf GTI. It's just a bit smaller, maybe little less prestige, but lighter, cheaper and more fun! What's not to love.

Awesome! Sounds like you are enjoying it Neville. I would have to say I am also enjoying the Polo GTI. I look forward to drive it, and every jounrey is a joy whether I am cruising to work, or "playing" with the car in Sports mode. I haven't had any issues as yet, so sorry to hear about your fron panels were rattling? So it was covered under warranty? That's good to hear. I would have to agree that the car feels comfortable for long journeys (I spend around 24-25 hrs a month in the car just for work). I am looking for a chptune from a reputable tuner here in Denmark, Copenhagen. Can't wait to see what it can do! :)

It will be a hit, my small dealership already has ordered 3 GTI's till November 3, maybe that's the reason it will take that long (or the Spanish workers are not so quick ;-). I have a standard TSI 2011 model in this colour. Its a diesel and so economical and quick. Love driving the Polo!! This is a completely different car but still a Polo in spirit. I like the new model. It being a bit larger is a good idea but the whole point of the Polo is to be an economical small car. If you want a reliable small car, Polo is great, Buy petrol, they are just as economical as the diesel and no issues with exhaust filters.

So now the dsg doesn't limit the torque to 250nm like in the older model. Full 320nm now even with dsg. Very good .

Yes, the put the bigger "wet" DQ250 in :-). 400 Nm is no problem, see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct-shift_gearbox . I will order the GTS Black with app as well. I'm not sure, maybe somebody can tell? I think that VW will take the same EA888 of the shelf, much cheaper to change the software. VW can handle software véry well, haha...(diesel)... The same EA888 comes with 230 hp (Golf GTI) and 190 hp in the T-Roc. Easy to change the software. Of course the Polo GTI has no 230 hp standard, VW wants to sell his Golf GTI as well and has more room to "improve" in the future in an midlife update of to create a difference in an R version.

We are not so lucky in Holland and have to pay € 6.861 "fun" tax extra and our statetax is 21%. So with all the extra's the car costs € 38.500!!! I got 8% off the price because I had no car to trade in.

So, that's late! We could testdrive a normal Comfortline Polo in Oktober. I had the precise details and prices for all Polo's at August 1. So I waited till I could have a testdrive to at least see and feel the car live although it was no GTI (press presentation December 1). Now I have to wait till the GTI is available in Holland for a spin, maybe before the end of 2017? I heard 2 customers ordered a GTI unseen, they will get it in week 9 2018.

Excellent, thorough review. I brought a 2017 Polo GTI after testing driving the Ford ST and love it. Definitely a pocket rocket. Not sure if I like the new shape or not,, a lot of creases on the body work. Big improvement with the dashboard. Not sure if it would be worth swapping in the future....

Hi Chris, thanks for the in depth videos on the Polo GTi and the Up GTi. Really enjoyed the information. My wife and I have ordered the POLO GTi but as you know, we have to wait until May to see it arrive here in the UK. One question I have for you though is regarding your above statement that the GTi comes with a Beats Sound system. All I can read from various sources is that we get the standard tinny speaker set up. Any further info from you would be most welcome and if you are correct, it will be a surprise bonus. Hello Chris !! I would like to know about the time in which will arrive the GTI full version to Mexico in the way in which you recommend and just in case you have the note!! I'm a fan of this car and making a comparison with other brands I realize VW polo has the best technology and design in and out and at the same time comfortable even if you have a stiff suspension but I'm still thinking about the VW brand is one of the most updated and innovative in the automotive industry.
