@Star Killer the east was so weak that the NBA had to change the all star format from Team East vs Team West to (for example) Team Lebron vs Team Giannis. Nobody wanted to see lebron in the team east with a bunch of bums against the best players in team west. Another reason the east is so weak is that Lebron made it to the finals with those bums on his team when he was on the cavs. He went 7 games with pacers and celtics. If he was in the west and he faced the rockets it wouldve been over for lebron in game 5

As a Heat fan I don’t know how I feel about this. It could have been amazing and we could have went on to win more championships but at the same time Bosh was exactly what we needed. He sacrificed so much so that Lebron and Wade could do what they do. Sad for Melo to a degree but glad it worked out the way it did, I don’t know if he would have been willing to step back like Wade and Bosh did.
@ApolloSol
@ApolloSol 5 жыл бұрын
I mean, correct me if I remember wrong, but we didn't really have much size even with Bosh. We would have been pretty small with Melo. Plus, he and Lebron played the same position. So, you move Lebron to the 4. Lets not forget, Birdman was a late pickup and who knows if we would have got him and Ray later on. I'm happy how things turned out. Bosh up there with Wade and Marino in my eyes.

You definitely right they would not have because the heat didn't need just another top notch scorer like Melo because they had Wade and LeBron, they needed another star that also did alot of dirty work like rebound and play defense for that to work out cuz you can't win championships with only great scorers it's more to basketball than that....

I love it when players are honest and sincere about the reflections of their choices. I loved Carmelo's angle/approach at flipping the narrative in the form of a question. He painted the picture detailing his perspective/perception at the time. He articulated how he made what he felt was the best decision at the time based on the information that was available to him. He also acknowledged that he was young and inexperienced and his mentality. He took a stand against these narratives head on.

I really wish people would be a little easier on Melo. He made some mistakes in free agency in his career and that’s why he never won a championship. He recognizes that and admits to his mistakes. But he is humble and seems like an all-around good dude. No need to tear him apart just because he didn’t win a championship.

@@yrgsam9792 It's not that people forgot Melo can score. The narrative is that Melo is a ball dominant, inefficient scorer who disrupts offenses. He is too egotistical to change his mindset about how he scores or his role on the team and he is not good enough in other aspects of the game to make up for this. It's a bit hyperbolic to me, but that's what it is right now. Look in the comment section, that's what people think of him. Melo has to fight hard to buck that narrative to get a roster spot and help a team. P.S. midrange isn't actually dead, but it's not a focal point for teams.

This is a prime example of how an individual's career is examined through results. Lebron's move to Miami to achieve his first championship was categorized as being weak or not fair. Nobody really talks about that anymore, we talk about how lebron is an success. Melo didnt take that "weak" move but now his career is perceived as inferior to the likes of lebron James and dwade. In short, Be results-oriented in life, no matter what anybody says

Agree2Disagree defense is way less valued and never usually is a problem on a lebron led team. Shooters are way more valued when hes the leader of the pack. Melo would suit a lebron team better than iggy. That is, if melo doesnt take long twos and long isos. If he really has matured and will spot up for threes, then he can definitely contribute a ton to the lakers. That if is preventing him from earning a roster spot though, because it definitely didnt happen on the rockets.

My husband literally predicted Melo's career the night Syracuse won the title. He said that he would care more about the scoring title than the NBA title. Je said the way he would win the title is when he is in his mid 30s and he accepts a his role as a 2nd ord 3rd option starter or on the bench while his young teammates win the ring. My husband argued this point to many people who said that he was bugging and now look. Wow. He also that same year said that KG would only win a ring in Minnesota if they trade for Paul Pierce!
