Lust, jealousy, betrayal, violence, all the biggest hits. Carmen is a great place to start if you've never seen an opera and this was an entertaining introduction.

I totally agree with you, you have great taste. Some bells hanging from the nose and a clown hat would be nice but you can't have everything... Hopefully they will soon introduce it as a game at Disneyland though. Fingers crossed.

I recommend continuing this collaboration for other operas Which you upload. It is the best way to introduce opera to novice. And this young lady, Mia Mandineau, does perform fantastically here. She is very good.

I absolutely love this synopsis and retelling of this wonderful opera. I do wish this could be re-recorded with middle school children in mind. So much of it is completely appropriate, but there are just a few inappropriate words and a bit of overt sexual talk. Don’t get me wrong, this is quite tastefully done, I just really wish I could show a bit younger of an audience.

C'était très original et vivant cette explication de Carmen dit donc! Du coup là c'est l'opéra et pas le roman de Mérimée j'imagine...? Les dessins m'ont bien aidée en tout cas, merci!

This is much different from the ballet. Obviously there’s a lot of similarities. But the pacing of the ballet makes it feels as though Carmen is two timing them while this just makes Don Jose seem like a creepy stalker.

the story based in Spain, but why the language is French?
@dennis12dec4 жыл бұрын
It was composed by French composer Georges Bizet.

Georges Bizet was a French composer so he wrote the opera in his own language. Kinda like some movies are based in different countries but people still speak English.

Dear OperaVision. I think this is a very good idea to make Opera more popular, but If it´s just a summary of Carmen, there are enough other alternatives. I´d be rather more interested if you could find a way to show the deep meaning and the conflict and desire of carmen and tell us more profound insights about that character, and why out of all carmen variatíons, this bizet one is the most popular.
@RyoStiegler5 жыл бұрын
If I follow your logic, couldn't we say they are also alternatives if you want to understand the deep meaning and the conflict and desire of Carmen then? ;) This is rather to democratise operas and present its stories to a wide public via a refreshing approach. And Mia is super talented imo
@mauricekaimonoyasan63785 жыл бұрын
@@RyoStiegler Hello Tudy. Yes sure, but ... where do I find them? I mean, not just history, but the metaphysical, and psychological explaination and with a deep reason for, why we still need opera these days. And I also think that its a bit redundant to make a summerise of Carmen, when it is directed in a very classical way. (I was 7 years old watching carmen the first time and even I understood the story) And. imo, if Opera is just there to entertain, the meaning of Opera and Art in general isnt there anymore. I´m sure Merimee wrote Carmen with a certain intention, which is more important than just entertainment. (for that we have enough other things in the 21st century. I just want to say that opera got boring to me once, but after I began to think profoundly about the meaning of the plots and the reasons, why pieces are written, it got me again, and so I decided to become an opera director and started to study opera directing in vienna. ;)

This is just an excelent parody, not an introduction to opera. It’s like saying Mel Brooks’ History of the World movie is an introduction to history, or places the comedian amongst the most renowned historians. It’s just a very good gig.

Hands up if Hey Arnold was your introduction to Carmen in "What's Opera, Arnold?" A far better love story than 🐕 💩 Romeo and Juliet hands down. Carmen is what we call a "trick" and she played with men's love. Very entertaining synopsis as well. 🤣

I think Bugs Bunny was first for me, Arnold was probally 2nd or 3rd. After that I do remember the Beyonce one
@Zarastro544 ай бұрын
To be fair, Romeo and Juliet is also more of a tragedy than a love story. Two stupid kids letting childish infatuation get in the way of good judgment and both ending up dead because of it.
