Powerful! I always watch the timpani when at a symphony! About 40 years ago I was at Houston symphony that was concerto for timpani and it became so vigorous his color popped out of his jacket! His name was David Wulliger and I’ll never forget.

What an awful audio recording here. Did you see the timpanist did not take his eyes off the conductor for a second? this is good... he did not want to give the choir a bad time signal, and he knew it. He had faith in the conductor, which is not always the case.
