His books got my feet working at a young age. Great stuff! I love the way his books were written, with each drum instrument on it's own line / notation - almost like Marching band.

Carmine gave me drum lessons at Old Town Music when I was a kid. There was no Internet then and I was too young to realize who he was. He was a great teacher and is an amazing drummer.

Anyone notice the implied swing in his rendition of eight note feel beats at the 1:09 time mark? He plays straight time reminiscent of some of Ringo's work on certain early Beatles tracks. What a musician this guy is. I'm a drummer and I can tell you that carmine has a feel behind his beats that actually makes his seemingly simple beat figures rather difficult to reproduce faithfully. He is just like Jeff porcaro in this r spect. A feel most drummers can study and play but with a personalised feel and iteration that is so difficult to reproduce that the covers of these drum legends on internet platforms to this day still unambiguously fail to re create the original feel and energy of the original as demonstrated by carmine here and porcaro in his own video lesson on shuffles bif you cannot reproduce it I say find your own take on it like they had. If you can reproduce their take though definitely share that to the world with a lesson on how to do it like them if you can. I haven't heard many faithful reproductions but I have heard many robotic copies. I'd rather the new interpretation rather than a robotic attempt at clinical reproduction ya dig
