Carmine Falcone Origin - This Ruthless Godfather Of Gotham Tried To Kill His Daughter For Business

Gotham is a dark and murky city, teeming with villains of all kinds. It is a place where evil finds a home because of all the madness that the dark streets and lonely alleyways have to offer. The villain we are going to talk about today is a Mob Boss. Who has left an indelible mark in Batman lore, whether it be in the pages of DC Comics or on the big screen and it is none other than Carmine Falcone.
Carmine Falcone was probably the most powerful man in Gotham at one point and his crime syndicate got under Wayne’s skin like no other. It has been over 30 years since Falcone was first introduced in the year 1987 in a four-part story titled Batman: Year One, written by David Mazzuchelli and Frank Miller. Most recently, his character was seen in the flesh in the movie, The Batman which did justice to the complex and gritty nature of the character.

I feel like Falcone is underrated because he represents an era of Gotham marked by Criminals that aren't so different from our world until Batman came along. And with his fall, came the Era of Supervillains. Criminals that border on the fantastique. A transition period for Gotham and for Batman himself as he sees that he's going to be fighting more than simple criminals.

The Dark Knight capitalized on that so well. Organized crime was bullied so much by a vigilante that it was inevitable they would turn to supervillains to level the Plainfield. Nolan was able to depict the Jokers arrival and rise to infamy in a very grounded way that in fact could happen in real life.

It’s honestly kind of irritating that Carmine usually serves as more of a plot device then anything, it was one of the reasons why I liked the Tuttoro iteration since he was a highlight rather then a side character

I think falcone is definitely an interesting character because when you're dealing with a story of Batman and he's dealing with criminals you going to need someone to best represent the criminal element in its way like not just an ordinary fog but the hierarchy Carmine falcone is a mob boss so he does represent this in the best way a man who stands at the top and not just some ordinary individual.

Carmine Falcone, in both THE BATMAN 2022 and THE PENGUIN 2024, is primarily based on the mid-1940s Los Angeles crime kingpin Noah Cross (played by the late actor John Huston R.I.P.) from the 1974 neo-noir crime/mystery movie Chinatown, with the actor Jack Nicholson in it too.
