Something with the copper line. Copper work hardens and will crack with vibration. It is a good idea to support the line near the fitting / have a couple of loops in the line to allow for the engine to move around. Have a look at brake lines on a vehicle that is body on frame, there will always be a loop to take up movement between the body and frame. While we are on the subject of brakes, the header is pretty close to the master cylinder. Some sort of heat shield would be a good idea.
@boingkster2 жыл бұрын
Yep the copper lines harden over time. Many newer kits come with nylon line. I've used it to good effect... moved my oil leak to a catch can which decided to unscrew and grenade itself in the engine bay instead, haha!
@bobroberts23712 жыл бұрын
@@boingkster Nylon lines have their issues too, the nylon softens and blows out of the ferrule ( Olive for those in some countries ). Mid 70's Chevy trucks used copper lines however from what I recall the ferrule was triangular ( flat on the nut side, tapered on the fitting side) . This pushed the transition further down the nut so the nut offers more tubing support. Also, if you look at " refrigeration " flare nuts if you are working with flareable tubing. These have a long body offering tubing support over the standard short nuts. When working with slightly larger than oil gauge plastic tubing requires thin metal inserts in the tubing to prevent the tubing from crushing and the ferrule from losing grip.

I've never heard of a 361 or of one being a big block. The smallest Mopar big block I've ever heard of is a 383 and I had a 1970 Roadrunner with a 383 that had Hooker headers, a dual tunnel ram with two Holley 650 double pumpers, and an A833 4 speed trans and a 9 3/4" Dana 60 rear end with a Sure Grip and a 3.54. The same rear axle and gearing that was in my 1984 Dodge Ramcharger with a 360 LA, A727, and a NP205 transfer case. Back in the early 70s my mom bought a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner with a 425HP (which was an underestimate) 426 Hemi, an A833 4 speed manual, and it was Plum Krazy, the Holy Grail of Mopars here in the US. That car would go for close to $500,000 nowadays in mint condition. I LOVE this build and I'd be willing to do some fairly sketchy things to own a car like this. I built my grandfather's last car into a monster, but I sold it sadly and last I heard about it, they had torn it apart and swapped the original engine back into it for a daily for his son. It took me 4 years to build that car into something that my grandfather would've loved, and he took it all back apart to return it to stock...

I haven’t done the heads on my 318 yet as I too ran out of money but it does have a 268h comp cam,edelbrock intake,edelbrock 500 carby,hei ignition and extractors and a full 2.5 inch exhaust. Rebuilt 727 trans with 2300 stall and shift kit BUT at the moment it’s still got its crappy 2.92 bw diff. Later I plan on changing it to a true track lsd with a 3:55 ratio. That’ll wake it up. Mine has been tuned and runs real well but only made 210hp at the wheels. I’m betting changing the heads later will have some benefits?🤞

Here it is still sunday evening :D Murphy hits you very often at this build or should i say your Dad may not be amused? I had a broken oil line in one of my cars, since then i prefer electric gauges. cleaning the inside of my car was no fun at all. I also had a broken tailshaft, luckily while start driving after red light turns green. In my case there was no unijoint, i had a rubber connection (don't know how these things are named in english) and the rubber broke. The tailshaft hit under the floor and deformed it. Also the exhaust was hit and deformed. So a loop might be a good investment for your own health. I also had one of these rubber connections broken on the german highway while i was driving nearly 200Km/h. A little piece fell off and the shaft get unbalanced. I will never forget those vibrations.
