I’m 39 yr old this year.. been listening to death metal since I was about 10, after my neighbor older brother got me into bands like Deicide, Cannibal , and incantation ..wasn’t a big fan of the “death core” boom in the late 2000s .. but Carnifex def changed my mind .. I still listen to them till this day and “Diseased and Poisoned” is still one of my favorite albums .. and their rendition of Slayers “Angel of Death” is one of the toughest things I’ve ever heard!! Much peace and love from Southern California 🤘🏼death metal till’ my death

Hell Chose Me is so full of them and especially Heartless and Sorrowspell. Definitely one of the things that made me love Carnifex and had them as one of the standouts is their "blackened" style which is becoming big now but wasn't big back then.

If it's hard seeing where you are at the the current state ... maybe your ahead of your time and the rest need to get on board ... Heavy Metal is more than music ... it's a way of life that most don't understand because no matter what type of Metal you like the reason you listen to it is why it still holds strong today ... it gets people through hard times, celebrate good times or just good old stress relief ... If you play or write music or sing from your heart I wish people understood the rush it his or when a song raises hairs on your neck ... I wish I could explain it but when your moshing, headbanging or have headphones on it becomes the soundtracks to our lives ... I have been listening to this music for a long time man it has saved my soul and the cliche It saved my life but it has for many and thats why metal heads are so passionate about these bands ... First thing I thought of when the pandemic hit was all the bands who are going to struggle knowing how some bands rely on touring ... Thanks Garza for this Podcast it just keeps getting better ...

Insane to hear you name drop that Burning The Masses tour!!! I remember that stop in Santa Ana at The Barn? I believe the place was called. You’d mosh, swing your arm up and smack the wooden beams above. Blanking on who headlined, Carnifex, BTM and my boys in At Battles End! Such a sick lineup just streets away from where I lived at the time.

I got into metal through metalcore but never got into deathcore until after getting into death metal. I enjoy all different types of metal and genres outside of metal. I don't see the point in hating on people for liking something else. That's why I just enjoy what I like.

I think you would have had to been in the scene back when deathcore 1st started blowing up... death metal fans hated deathcore cause it was nothin but breakdowns, the vocals were different, plus back then it was bands having hella fun putting in family guy clips and random other clips before the breakdown.. it was fun asf where deathmetal was so damn serious all the time lol.. i miss those days so much even todays deathcore takes itself too serious its not like it was back then

I really like Carnifex as a band they're definitely one of the best I never really understood why people didn't give deathcore more credit and respect I mean metalcore is definitely more respected and accepted I always thought that deathcore would be greatly appreciated and loved since it's very death metal influenced and falls under the extreme metal banner like any of the bands in the genre could tour with any of the big death metal bands and hold down as far as that decibel review for slow death that's just unprofessional and shitty journalism the guy just wrote about how much he hates deathcore doesn't even speak on the music which is what a review is meant to be I hope he was fired when it comes to publications the staff should really know what everyone is into so that when something comes out the person reviewing it can give a fair and honest review or if they're not into a genre then be respectful about it and give a fair go or familiarize yourself with the music I've seen many people give such reviews as the one given to slow death and I read it and go then you shouldn't of written the review in the first place your disdain invalidates the whole thing and it makes these people look like complete dicks
