Thank you for this updated review. I booked with this ship because of the destination for my birthday celebration. I was concerned because it's a little older and I've mainly sailed on the newer larger ships. I appreciate this review and will come back to give my comments after the vacation.

You picked a good ship, it definitely is different than a larger ship but you definitely get better service on smaller ships. Happy early birthday!🎉

What I really love about the older ships is they are so fancy! They're such beautiful ships. I was on the sailing before the smoke stack caught on fire the first time.

I cruised on Carnival Freedom in 2021when cruising first returned. I absolutely loved this ship! I admit I have become addicted to the Excel class ships, but Freedom has a special place in my heart. I’m booked on her again in May and I can’t wait! ❤

Yeah I love the excel class my self, I think the vista class is probably the best blend of modern and old school cruising and that’s definitely my favorite class.

To be honest each cruise is all personal preference, if you’re looking at a more up to date one I would say sail on the Mardi Gras or the Celebration those are amazing ships but just a little larger

You can buy decorations, have a cake, flowers, chocolate covered strawberries and a bunch of other stuff delivered to their room. This can all be done before the cruise on their website.

Inform the waiter in dining room of her birthday of course on the side so she will be surprised. They will bring out a slice of cake with candle and sing to her.

I’m curious to know which Carnival ships you are comparing this ship too. The variety and quality is about the same as the others in its class. It’s pretty dated and has less to offer than some of carnival other ships.

We’ve been on every class of carnival ship, realistically I love the vista class and excel class ship but for value the conquest class is solid.

mdr was horrible service and food was meh. waiter dropped an entire tray of food by my leg so they removed 1 day of gratuties. red frog pub had old folks in it so i walked out. other than that its a good size ship. there a lot of "shirts" family reunions on this cruise. the magic show as good, we did the 5 night cruise, much needed. .would sail again

Yeah it’s definitely a lot of family reunions, birthdays etc but that can all vary by sailing. What did you get in the MDR that was meh?

@@BoatBreakersNJ first night was my favorite the braised rib and after that it was just meh, wait service was slow, had to keep asking for lemonade, no bread and when the waiter dropped the entire tray by me and food was all over my bottom leg, we ate on the lido after that

They must have improved a ton. They where the worst Carnival ship we where ever on. We had one problem after another, from rude service, no water at dinner,and couldn't use the drink package. We tell everyone never take the Freedom.

Oh wow, what do you mean couldn’t use the drink package?! Our service was really solid.

On all other Carnival ships they where great, but they wouldn't let us have orange juice at dinner. When we went to customer service they took care of it. The next night yo could tell the staff wasn't happy with us, we got orange juice but rude service and one glass of water for 6 people.

@BoatBreakersNJ That's the only ship that we ever had trouble with . The servers in the dinner room at supper was the worst one we ever had they didn't what to take care of us as so as we sit down. We had six at the table and only 3 of us was given a glass of water that we had to share with the other 3 at the table. We paid for the juice package and they refused to give my husband orange juice said he could only get it in the morning . They didn't what to take care of us the whole cruise until the last night so we would give them a good report at the end of are cruise.
