Thanks for the reminder of closing those curtains. My cabin mate decided that the curtain didn't need to be closed since we had an obstructed view window. Imagine my surprise coming out of the bathroom to see 2 guys outside of our window cleaning the deck. Just glad that I was dressed.

My sister in law was supposed to be on the Sun Princess with us this week but got sick with some sort of unknown stomach ailment the morning before embarkation and ended up missing the ship as a result. I've also been hearing about a lot of other family members getting sick this Winter.

I just came off the carnival sunrise. Although I didn't really like the ship compared to the carnival conquest, the cruise director, Deon, was amazing. He made the cruise soooo much fun. He had the whole ship singing to 90's music..in unison. It was like a cruise chior. It was amazing. On a second note, I fell in crush with director of the dinning room but never got to talk to talk to him. Call me crazy but I'm getting back on the ship in 2 weeks for more fun and & who knows, I might find love.😂😂😂😂

Doug, I have a feeling if the buffet and restaurants onboard required mandatory hand washing to enter like they did a year sailing resumed after Covid there would not be Norovirus outbreaks. If the buffet especially had crew serving the food vs self-serve that would all but eliminate the Norovirus issue. Carnival needing to tell guests to close curtains during intimate moments (or Only Fans content creators 😉) is not surprising. I kind of suspect though these guests were intentionally being revealing! 😂

I was on one of the Disney cruises years ago when a guy walked in as I was walking out of the buffet and the crew member reminded him to wash his hand. He actually said that he "took a shower this morning" so he didn't feel like he had to wash his hands. That should be an automatic ban from the ship. These people don't take public safety seriously so why should any cruise line want them sailing with them.

@@sharondalynnewton7562 I agree but sadly, companies don't want to piss off their customers. But in this day and age, something like washing your hands at the buffet should be non negotiable. If I were a cruise line, I would make it part of the cruise contract that people sign, put a sign up in the rooms, and put a sign up at the entrance of the buffets. Everyone has to wash their hand properly to get food from the buffet or they will not be allowed to eat there. Sad that we have to treat grown ass adults this way but public health is more important.

Happy Thursday Doug! I don’t know why it’s so hard for people to practice good hygiene. But, these things start at home and not on a cruise ship so, the problem may be bigger than we think. I try to refrain from touching as many public surfaces as possible and wash my hands often and try super hard not to not touch my face, nose, mouth and eyes when out in public especially without a tissue. I do not like being sick. Now, as for the curtain-closing thing. smh. I have this issue in my neighborhood. And I do not understand. I totally agree that some things are best left off the itinerary. lmbo you are hilarious my friend! 100k is in the bag for you for sure! I’m starting to think that these “early” sailings are being factored into the rollout of these new ships. At least they’re giving the original “inaugural” booked passengers a chance to switch to the earlier sailings but it’s not right. And all the other “initial inaugural” passengers should get additional bonuses for the missing out on being the “first”. Just my two cents but just doesn’t seem fair. But thanks for bringing us the updates my friend! I listened to the podcast yesterday and am glad you have Richard in your corner. The problem is, it's not just the dining areas where noro spreads. A person goes to the bathroom and doesn't wash their hands. They touch the doorknob, an elevator button, and a slot machine in the casino. People who touch these same surfaces and then touch their mouth are at risk.

I really dislike the large ships and being in Australia it is very hard to find a decent cruise now. I have been loyal to royal, but I refuse to take a cruise on any of their larger ships. I've been on ovation and quantum. Terrible experiences. Crowded, loud. Music coming from different venues clash with others. I've just been on a Cunard cruise. There was music everywhere but none of it clashed with others. Not sure how they did that. Much more pleasant cruise

I have worked in food for over 30 years and the amount of people that will come in, after touching who knows what, not wash their hands, and then eat with their hands, put their fingers in their mouths, etc, is insane. Actually that's not the case. I've been on two Behind the Scenes tours on Carnival and Royal and they talked at length about air filtration. I'm not HVAC but have worked in hospitality for decades and am quite familiar filtration systems in hotels. Norovirus is not airborne. It's picked up on contact and people touching their faces. Eating at the buffet with their hands and picking up serving utensils without sanitizing their hands. It's disgusting.

Or maybe have plastic gloves out for people that want to use them before using the utensils. I like the buffet BUT I will eat in the MDR in a heart beat to avoid stomach issues

Yes just got off a cruise . Out of group of 5 , 3 got sick with GI distress, 2 with covid one with both! One ended up hospitalized. If you have any preexisting conditions or over 60 buyer beware. These ships have a huge problem with viruses. I am never cruising again

I keep saying the same thing about not cruising again. But I cruised 2 yrs ago and was constantly washing my hands, and I wore a mask, especially in those elevators and the crowded atrium. And this was at Christmas. I never got sick but my daughter who never wore a mask got sick. I will be going on a cruise in about a week. And again, I will be wearing a mask (I don't care who looks at me strange- I will never see these people again) and will be washing my hands constantly with soap and water. I'm bringing ammodian AD just in case, Lol!!

I'm 61 with the aforementioned preexisting conditions and have taken 15 cruises since Covid and have never had so much as a sniffle. I wash my hands, avoid crowds, take the stairs and my multivitamins. I spend most of my time outside in the great air away from people. I'll never give up cruising.

And I was on a Christmas cruise a couple years ago and I could count how many people were wearing a mask. There was 3,000 people on that cruise and I didn't get sick at all. I don't care who looked at me funny. I don't know them and I won't see them again. I was reading those fb posts and a bunch of people got sick with covid on that cruise. Not me
