I agree with you. For many, the 15 drink limit becomes a 15 drink challenge. If there is no limit, you take away that need to hit your “goal” and I would bet that the majority wouldn’t even count how many drinks they had in a day.

IMO, There should be a lesser drink package, they could charge $20 less per day and limit it to 7 alcoholic drinks per day. This might help the excessive " I am going to reach my limit"

I think what some are not understanding is that it also includes specialty coffee, milk shakes, energy drinks, bottled water, soft drinks. Factor those things in plus 15 alcoholic drinks and it definitely pays to get it. I’ve cruised with it and without it. And will never cruise again without it on cruise lines that offer it. The average drink is around $12-$15, soft drink $3, big bottled water $3.95, energy drink $5, specialty coffee $5 So let’s say I drink a minimum of 2 mimosas for breakfast-$12x2= $24 ( they are small) get a big bottle of water, $3.95 (we have to stay hydrated) 2 Cadillac Margaritas- $15x2=$30 (hanging on the Lido. This is what I drink on land) 2 soft drinks- $3x2=$6 (lunch time) 1 glass of wine-$15 (dinner) Total $78.95 my package is covered for the day and that’s only 5 alcoholic drinks.

J, I can agree with some of what you said, but personally, this is what works for me: 5-6 drinks per day is no big deal to anyone who does drink. That coupled with at least 2 bottles of water and 2 specialty coffees or teas more than satisfies the dollar-per-day breakdown. Looking at it this way, you can more than cover your drink package price.

I 100% agree with you Jay. 14 Carnival cruises and I only had the drink package once and it was free (right after Covid) and I challenged myself everyday to hit that magical 15 drink limit and only made it once. Whereas I've cruised with Norwegian 4 times which included the drink package and never felt the urge to drink that much.

I've never consumed near the 15 drink maximum and have never even tried. I do, however, still make sure to get my money's worth. I get the most expensive cocktails ($12-$14), and I drink plenty of non-alcoholic beverages, too. I always get bottled water with every drink, cups of coffee (including spiked coffee), juices, shakes (including spiked shakes), etc. As far as the cocktails, at the price point I get, it only takes about 5 to break even for the day. It works for me!

The Cruise I was just on, 70,000 Tons Of Metal, didn't have a Drink Package. I don't know exactly why, but I heard something about they'll be losing money on it. I don't drink alcohol, anyway. So, I got the beverage package that includes soda, coffee, juices, and non alcoholic mix drinks. It was great!

Few tips for anyone going on a carnival cruise in the summer. 1. There will be approximately 3,000 cruisers with you. 2 . 5 min wait between drinks so you will have to wait in the long lines. This makes it difficult to even approach 15 drink during the peak times. 3. If you want a shot at getting your moneys worth go to the casino bar as soon as it opens. 1 shot of liquor then 5 min later pick your mixed drink of choice to pour the shot in. Repeat until ready to gamble or whatever. 4. Pay for the highest priority debarkation position possible. I would’ve paid $200 to get off that boat quicker than 2 hours.

On my first Carnival Cheers experience, I made the 15 drink challenge a few times because I also saw it as getting my $ worth. Now, being much older, I just drink what I want w/o feeling like I need to get blasted to recoup my investment.

@@kcprice1115 we. Are now diamond on both but carnival we have 60 cruises and we have seen a lot of crazy stuff. I believe it’s the type of people that go to carnival because they think it’s a party . It’s changed for carnival with the changes they have started but after the next and last 3 cruises we have booked on carnival, will be the last with them unless they offer us better than MSC . I don’t see that happening. We even booked 2 more MsC s yesterday and we have now 6 booked with them over the next 15 months . We even booked balcony rooms with drinks and Wi-Fi and $100 onboard credit for $1400 on each. Royal carnival none of them come close to that with that service. I just miss the unlimited free wash service and the owners perks of extra on board credit. But MSC to us is great but they didn’t match us like they say. We got gold and it took us 4 cruises to actually get to Diamond with them . But we will now have 13 cruises with them this time next year

Have to remember, Carnival are the “fun ships”, so it’s also a different type of crowd. The partygoers would be more likely to let loose on Carnival, compared to the typical MSC cruiser. I’ve seen Carnival guests get completely hammered, and have to be carried back on board

Although my bf enjoys a cocktail or wine on occasion, I do not drink alcohol at all, so knowing that Carnival is largely known as the "booze cruise", we have only been on Royal Caribbean and Princess so far (Princess is actually owned by Carnival). They have non-alcoholic drink packages which we usually both get (and my bf will just buy whatever few alcoholic drinks he wants). It works for us. Princess had actually had a special coffee package which included all the fancier coffee and tea drinks, juices, and non-alcoholic cocktails. Interestingly enough--THAT had a 15 drink maximum. For a 7 day cruise (where the first day is more like a half day, and the 7th day you have to disembark like 8 am in the morning)--that works out to 3 specialty drinks a day which was perfect for me. You can get regular coffees, tea, soft drinks, juice, etc in the main dining room and buffet or anywhere where meals are included with your cruise. Beverages served with complimentary room service breakfast as also included at no extra cost, and Princess (at the time we went, pre-Covid) had a pretty good complimentary room service menu (that I didn't know they had until halfway through the cruise). Just do your research. I know cruise lines are starting to charge for things that were inclusive before or bump the price up for packages.

My 80 year old mother was not a drinker but I am, if she sailed with me I had to fork over the money for her too or forgo the package. I always chose the latter and ended up with a 300.00+ bill at the end of a 7/8 night sailing. They need to fix this.

Mr J, Carnival is trying to fix their issues and of course, not everyone will like it. You complained when they brought k9 dogs to fight the drug problems, you complained when they lower the drink limit. The problem is not Carnival, it's their passengers, and it shows what kind of people your average Joes are. You are talking about 21 years or older adults like they are stupid kids, I don't see you getting drunk and dumb. I like the idea of, after meeting the 15-drink limit under the drink package, if the person wants to continue drinking, the have the right to purchase additional drinks on their accounts as long as the bartender feels the passenger is not drunk. In all the time I have had the drink package, I may have met the 15-drink limit once or twice. My husband on the other hand, has a high tolerance when it comes to alcohol. He has met the 15-drink limit several times and is still able to have more without getting totally intoxicate.

Carnival is like the old neighbor that is stuck in his ways. They've had 16 years since the Oasis class came out to really wow guests. Besides the excell class everything else is outdated now. They keep updating old worn out ships from other lines and pushing them as a new ship. The drink package sucks compared to royal. Then they dont have a comparable refreshment package. While 15 can be enough a lot can drink more. On the other hand, Carnival has enough issues with drunks

I'm torn on buying or not buying a drinks package for a drink (if i even have one), I don't drink soda, I do drink tea and water. My daughter wants coffee and milkshakes, so we are on the fence of me buying the drinks package so we don't have to pay out of pocket for those things.

They could also do a tiered package. If the $60 per day is a maximum of 15 drinks, they could add a max 10 drink per day package and a max 5 drink package. I would never pay $60 a day for a drink package, but I would think about a $30 a day package with a max of 5 drinks.

They have soft drink packages the package for juice, and soda, coffee, and tea should be bottomless. Some lines would charge $6.00UD+/for a soda. So between coffee/tea/juice/fizzy drinks 10 servings a day is $60.00, if the price per day of the package is lower then a la carte, go for it. Another fact to consider do you want to share a room where someone drinks alcohol and you don't? Or vice versa, buying a package you can't use is expensive

We normally get the drink package. We've never gotten close to 15. We mix it up by getting specialty coffee, alcoholic drinks, water, soda, and juices to make it worth us paying for the drink package.On average, we would need to pay extra for water, specialty coffee, etc, on other cruise lines like NCL. People need to start realizing that normally, they would have to pay for all the other non-alcoholic drinks so they can appreciate a drink package that includes everything, not just alcohol.

I got off Mardi Gras yesterday and had a fantastic time. I got the drink package and do not regret it at all. Not once did I ever get near 15 drinks. I bought it so I didn’t have a drink bill at the end. I paid for as much as I possibly could ahead of time. I can’t wait till I get to board her again ❤

On our last cruise, my wife and her family definitely took the 15 drink limit as a challenge. I think a few of them hit that limit multiple times over that 6 or 7 days.

It's carnival's fault because someone decide they have to drink all 15? I'm currently on Carnival, average drink is $14, if you drink more than 4 drinks a day, the drink package is worth it. With 5 drinks you've gotten your money worth. Also, the package include unlimited soda & water. Carnival aint counting how many of the 15 folk are drinking, they probably know folk give away drinks.

I don't drink soda and only choose to drink a couple of alcoholic drinks a day. I do like the specialty coffees, bottled water, etc. There really isn't a package that makes sense for me, so I hate being forced to buy Chears because I'm over 21 (way over lol) and cruising with someone who wants to purchase the package.

Cannot imagine how lousy I’d feel after 15 drinks in one day! And I don’t enjoy watching other people get stupid drunk on a cruise either. I would really would like to see a non-Alcoholic drink package on Carnival like the one that Royal Caribbean has. Non alcoholic cocktails, specialty coffees, water, milkshakes, smoothies. I don’t drink soda (bubbles package) and since my husband doesn’t drink at all and I drink lightly due to medications, the Carnival drink package is useless to us.

The best and my favorite video that you put out was when you were dancing at a club. My God you are so talented! I have watched it over and over and can't get enough. As per the drink package on Carnival and their 15 drink maximum I don't get all of these drinkers. I have only cruised one time and it was on Celebrity Reflection and I didn't see anyone hammered. In 2 weeks I will be on the Celebrity Apex for a family reunion. Maybe you are right about the 15 drinks per day being a challenge. Found a good hack to this on some ships. If there is a late night pizza joint on the boat they usually have beers and seltzer behind the counter. Just ask for them and ask to not open them and they will. I just stored them in my fridge in my room so I always took full advantage of the 15 drink limit

Carnival's drink package is stupidly expensive for the casual drinker, but then the cocktails are also more expensive than most other cruise lines as well. ($32 for two mudslides!!) After gratuities, it comes closer to $70/day and that includes port days, so about $500 for the week. Or $1000 for two of you, which is crazy expensive if one person doesn't drink at all. An upcoming 15-day cruise would bring the tab for a couple with only one drinker to $2124!! The upshot is, as you mentioned, that booze gets smuggled onboard. -- Rum runners work great BTW. Carnival loses out on all alcohol revenue plus loses the ability to monitor alcohol consumption when drinks are served up the the cabin rather than the bar. My favorite bar on the Panorama was "The Cove" so named for the cove balcony we stayed in. Bu contrast, Norwegian pretty much always includes the drink package with their ongoing "Free At Sea" promos for which you just pay the gratuity (About $152 per person per week) and no posted limits. Which even if there's two in a cabin but only one drinker, the total cost is still less than just one drink package on Carnival. My rum runners stay at home when sailing on NCL. I'm sure alcohol-related incidents also occur on Norwegian on occasion, but nowhere near the extent as they happen on Carnival.

My first 4 cruises where on Princess and then I did one on Royal Caribbean and I have now also done 10 Carnival and 3 NCL. I purchase the drink package on all my cruises and on Carnival on the 10 cruises that I have done only twice have I had 15 drinks and then was told that couldn't get another. I have seen passengers who are drunk and have had too much to drink on every cruise that I have been on.

I've never gotten to 15. 13 was my highest drink count for one day, but I DID see a young lady (with a baby in her arms) that was denied an adult beverage because she had met her daily drink package limit! (It was about 2AM ) 😬 I do also know that SOME people will buy drinks for OTHER people on their drink package. This lady with the baby didn't look or act "15 drinks in" so I'm assuming she may have comped some of her allotted 15 drinks out to someone else in her party, in another room, that DIDN'T purchase the drink package... (Also, she was shocked to find out that there was a drink limit to the package... she didn't do her research.. smh) lol

I think with unlimited people will still try to get their monies worth. If I paid $90 a day, and I drank, maybe I would think how about 20 drinks. This makes each cheaper in their minds. Or see how many I can drink as my personal best. Sorry Princess I don’t think that was a good decision.

Got a free cheers package for not asking for a refund when our cruise was delayed/canceled due to covid. Definitely tried to reach the limit every day to "get my money's worth". My liver felt like it was burning by the end of the cruise and my wife never came close to the limit. Would never pay for it.

They are also leaving money on the table by forcing ALL passengers in a room to purchase the package. My husband does not drink. So of course we are not going to pay over $800 for those packages. Instead I'll end up just buying individual drinks, which will end up costing less than if I were to purchase even just 1 drink package for myself. I've done the math over and over. I will not drink 15 drinks a day. Instead, maybe 4 or 5, or less. And another reason why forcing ALL in a room to purchase the package is not smart for them: say someone does lie and they really are using the other person's drink package. We'll, no matter what, 15 is the limit, whether 1 person drinks 15 drinks or 2 people drink that amount together..who cares if they share?! What difference would it make? It comes across more like babysitting kids than it does a rule that makes sense.

Also that clip of the woman stumbling and falling is the reason people probably die on ships. Drinking to much, age, unsteady boat, you get an accident.

I think it's morally wrong for a cruise line to force every single passenger 21+ to purchase a drink package. I'm 26 and I do not consume alcoholic beverages by choice. I also tend to drink water or coffee only. So for me to waste $350 of my money because I am only going to maybe get a tea a day is unfair to me. The fact that they're pretending that this is anything more than a poorly disguised money grab as opposed to just increasing the price of the ticket would have me to choose a different Cruise line based upon principal. I would rather pay 500 more per ticket to give my money to a company with better morals.

If I still drank, I'd probably be pretty miffed about that 15-drink limit. $60/day for 15 drinks is $4/drink, that's pretty steep considering you're buying a week's worth at once. It's one thing if you charge $60/day for unlimited drinks, even though most people probably wouldn't drink over 15 drinks per day. But when you put a hard limit of 15 a day, you are spelling out that you're paying at least $4/drink. I think what they *should* be doing is cutting people off based on how intoxicated they are. How many scuffles have there been on Carnival ships that would have been avoided if they stopped serving people who are trashed?

Idk J. 15 drinks in 24 hrs is more than enough for me. I’ve never made to 8. And 7 included maybe 2 Bellinis with breakfast or brunch, a specialty coffee or 2. Only excessive drinkers will attempt and even make it to 15. The regular social occasional drinker will not. I’ve become a light weight as I’m getting older. My husband wants the drink package so I must. Last summer we met a couple and the husband had 15 drinks by 3/4 o’clock and he was fine. Another fella had 2 bartenders dragging him to his room at closing. Good that the bartenders and mixologist cut you off once you hit 15.

With the cost of drinks purchased individually you do not have to drink the limit to get your money's worth. Research to know how much your drinks will cost and see if it is worth it or not. My husband and I could never drink the max and would never drink enough to make it worth it for us. We don't purchase the package for this reason.

While I usually enjoy your videos, I have to express my disappointment with this one. How can it be seen as a significant issue for a company's drink package to have a limit aimed at controlling consumption? If anything, wouldn't this reflect a more cautious approach by the company concerning safety? The 15-drink limit applies universally to all passengers, not solely those opting for the Cheers package. Carnival instituted this policy in 2013. Thus, before 2013, passengers had unrestricted access to drinks. When evaluating a company's package, its value proposition should be the focus. For example, if I were to consume 15 drinks at a certain price point, the cost would amount to 'x.' Therefore, to break even, one needs to consume 'x' worth of drinks. Labeling it a poor package based on the perspective of a few who view 15 drinks as a target seems unjust.

I prefer how Virgin has a bar tab. It makes it no big deal if you want to get drinks for others. Plus, they only cut you off if you are getting too intoxicated or belligerent

Holland America (owned by Carnival) also has this. What I found annoying was that cans of WATER count toward the limit! Also cappuccino and other premium beverages. Total ripoff.
