The fact that they didn’t name the family member that was with the kids (who were in two different cabins) is an act of omission for the sake of keeping it vague in case they do get into trouble with child protective services. I retired from law enforcement. You can guess at how many children got left in “safe” situations and usually it never ended well. And these two would have been the first to ones screaming and gnashing their teeth as well as threatening a lawsuit against RCCI for their idiocy. A cruise ship is a small town. You don’t know who is onboard. And if we already have cases of stolen property, women being s$$sully assaulted and even crew members hiding cameras, I’m not saying be paranoid but don’t leave your damn intelligence on land when you set sail.

Exactly! Everything is fine and dandy until a fire breaks out on the ship and it happens to be in the area where your children are at. They definitely wouldn't let other guests back there to prevent even more casualties. Then you have the fact you are surrounded by strangers you don't know anything about. Either you bring a travel nanny (if you can afford it), a relative who doesn't mind staying with the kids for the duration of the cruise, keep the kids with you or spouse at differing times so kids are never alone without either, or keep the kids at home with a relative.

As a long time criminal lawyer and a retired judge, their statement was not credible. The video did a very good job picking up on the nonverbal cues, but the story did not make sense. What was lacking was detail. Had they actually had a person there with the children, they would have said so. They didn't. The "someone with their children at all times" is a tell by a lack of specificity. Don't have to give the name, simply the relationship. I am guessing if they actually had a nanny watching them, that would go against their narrative, but to shred their credibility to keep up the illusion? The other large tell, and frankly the most damning, is the immediate deflection to how much they love their children and how they would never do this. Heard that so many times. It is rote. The doe eyed look and pleading voice inflection - "believe us" looks isn't what happens in real life. Over-rehearsed and not pulled off well by non actors. As I have never seen any of their videos, this may be how they are normally. The best I can say is unpersuasive and not credible. The worst.....

I once saw a dad pushing one of those umbrella handle strollers with a preschooler in it. The kid was not only sound asleep, he was bent forward at the waist, practically bent double 😂 Kids can sleep anywhere, in any position.

I follow them on FB. Abby posted a story a 2-3 days into the cruise where she said she didnt want to post anymore because of challenges with having kids with them on vacation. I missed this part of their posting but im so disheartened to know it led to this. I unfollowed them. Absolutely ridiculous. If the family was with the kids they could have cleared that up the same night. She literally said “thats why I deleted it several hours after posting it, i could see it was causing concern and misunderstanding.” They’ve had days to clear this up.

I'm 71, and don't try to BS me. Find out if the cruise line offer baby sitting services for a fee or cost, some do. There is absolutely NO excuse for leaving kids unsupervised. In a blink of an eye many things could happen. . If nothing is available, reschedule your adult time. Welcome to parenthood! Our activities revolve around theirs. Just grin and bear it!

Only that they were traveling with extended family and that they would never leave them "unattended". Not that they'd never leave them "alone", just not unattended. That's an important difference.

I refuse to defend them. It is unacceptable. Let me tell you my story: I was born in 1971. It was a completely different time. I have two kids (20 and 14) and I would never do this to my kids. I have two brothers who are 5 and 7 years younger than me. One weekend, my parents took me to a mountain resort. One evening, they put me to bed (I must have been about 5 years old) and then they went to dinner. Well, I was alone in the hotel room. And being well aware of what a, “latchkey kid” was at the time, I awoke, not seeing my parents, and I turned on Saturday Night Live on the NBC tv station that was one of the three that the hotel had. So, while my parents were out, I watched SNL (No, I didn’t understand a damn thing.). Was that appropriate then? NO! Is it appropriate now? NO! Did I subject my kids to that? NO! Parents: DO NOT DO THIS! My story happened in 1975. What was in the hotel room? A bathroom, a telephone, and a TV that received 3 channels. Times were different.

The real joke here is that these two hold themselves out as a couple out there who helps sort out misunderstood videos of other couples where they may have done or said things that expose problematic behavior, lies, background that turn out are not perfect and so on. Now that they are in the same boat as others seems like their is no one around to clear the air. It's not like they could not have travelled with a nanny, or made reservations for a cabin sitter to be with their children as it was a family cruise that has such things available. They certainly can be said to have enough money to afford either, but then again many wealthy young couples tend to hold in to their money by finding ways to not spend it on extras children might need. The inside cabins does bring into question as to whether they booked that as a way to avoid the risk of a child alone in a cabin being seen if inside means no window/balcony or no way a child could access a balcony that was not their. Inside on most cruises are rooms that back up against other cabins in the interior and have to access outside the ship, while on some of the new Nega cruise ships inside simply means a view if the interior promenade instead of the ocean views. It would be understandable that parents, who chose to reserve a babysitter might well employ something like a live Facebook feed to monitor the children and caregiver since the caregiver would be a stranger. Or, as they later tried explaining a family member stayed in the room, one way or the other thst should have been part of the initial explanation for the FaceTime monitoring. I would expect that as influencers they may well have gotten a good bit of their trip, including the bookings for many family members they usually mske one think are no where near as well off as them, compped or discounted by Royal Caribbean as a way to advertise without appearing to and so even alluding to not being 100% comfortable with shipboard bsbysitters used the face time excuse to pretend they were monitoring the children instead of not trusting the babysitter. The other oddity was the idea that the onboard childcare, the Explorer camps, did not work out. These facilities are there and provide programs for children older than their children who are closer to school she snd used to being left in day care with programs provided to keep them happy and are more used to strangers caring for them. A 1 and 2 year old are likely to be happy to be handed over to strangers who, until the cruise started, they never met. Even if they were left in daycare when not traveling, children that age must have suffered tears over several weeks until their daycare providers were no longer strangers. They also have been unclear as to whether they had one cabin with themselves and 2 if their fancy blackout tented and monitored cribs (night vision monitoring needs sone light) squeezed in their cabin or if they had adjoining cabins with the bed removed in one to accommodate these cribs, or if their cabin joined the one the children were in at all. A few times in home childcare has been alluded too so why not bring that person along unless they could not obtain a passport, as the children's cabin could have accommodated them. And a totally different question needs to be raised about these special cribs with these blackout tents which don't at all sound like anything too normal ad infants don't need total darkness nor do toddlers to go to sleep and stay asleep. And to totally seal light out of a crib one has to ask about ventilation due to limited air in a crib sized tent, as well as temperature control. And if they are blacked out, with no ambient light how can they monitor inside thr crib? They would need some night vision to do so and night vision relys on some level of ambient lighting, and cannot work in total blackout. These cribs dou d closer to child abuse than child comfort and safety. While a case maybe made to have CPS check into how the children sleep and these crazy sounding cribs ad it sounds like they sleep like this at home too, their may not be any type of investigation or legal issues they face depending where the ship was when this happened and what laws, if any, there are in that jurisdiction for supervising children.

I don’t know if these two did this…But the parents that engage in this irresponsible behavior are trifling. It’s not the responsibility of the crew to watch your children.

You can tell the subscribers that get weirdly “attached” to their influencers. I really hope they didn't leave their kids alone with just only a baby monitor and face time. It's not safe. I took my munchkin with me EVERYWHERE anytime I didn't have a close family member. Which was 85% of the time. I get it that us parents need alone time to breath but never at the expense of our children's safety. You can't rewind time and undo anything bad if it happens.

And it really wouldn't have been that hard to do a "hey, we messed up" video instead of what amounts to a "sorry we got caught" one.
