You have a awesome tank. Can you provide what to do and not to when setting up/ caring for the plants. I'm a novice plant lover and looking to do a carnivore tank myself. I'm doing some research before buying everything. Thanks.

Those sarracenia and Venus fly traps won’t last long In there. Unless you take them out for dormancy.

I was thinking the same, they need a dormancy period, how can he do that ?

VFTs go into dormancy because of the photoperiod shortening, it doesn’t have anything to do with temperature, so he could shorten the photoperiod for them. I don’t know if that would work for the Sarracenias, or how it would affect the tropical plants.

He said in another comment that he digs out the Sarracenias, and the VFTs do fine without dormancy. I suspect that what actually happens is they divide themselves enough that there are constantly new plants, when a plant divides it resets their “internal clock”. I may be wrong, though.

Do you still have this setup

How did you do the rain system? I'm assuming there's a water pump, but how did you hook that up?

how much did this whole thing cost you

Including the plants, around 500ish USD? The plants were actually the most expensive part because I had a few expensive cultivars of akai ryu and exotic pitchers. Regular Ones are much cheaper. Apart from the tank and Lighting. The rest are actually pretty cheap, just lots of hands on. You can cut more cost if you collect your own sand/rocks/ moss instead of buying them too..
