Hello guys, and welcome back to Car Obsession. The current Suzuki Swift has been on the market for around two years now, so to keep things fresh, the Japanese brand has given the long-standing supermini a bit of attitude. To look at, this new car looks very similar to the Swift, but look closer and you'll see it's not quite as bold. However, it's more in your face than the standard car, so it should prove to be a good halfway house.
The ethos for the new Attitude is to offer buyers (specifically younger buyers) the chance to buy a car that has sporty looks, but without the high running costs that such a car can bring. The Attitude features 16" alloys, faux carbon fibre trim, a sporty mesh grille, and a cheeky roof spoiler. Ride height remains unchanged, in case you happened to be wondering.
The exterior may look like it's packing a bit of punch under the bonnet, but in fact it isn't. The Attitude doesn't feature the 1.4 litre BoosterJet used in the Sport (for obvious reasons), and nor does it feature the 1.0 litre BoosterJet engine. No, instead, Suzuki has deployed its 1.2 litre naturally aspirated DualJet petrol unit, which offers only 90hp and 120Nm of torque.
The point of it, as my previous title hints at, is to offer a sporty looking car, but without the higher running costs. One of the largest benefits of opting for the Attitude is a lower insurance group, which will be especially attractive for younger drivers. The Swift Sport sits in insurance group 35, whereas the Attitude is a whole 10 lower, sitting in 25D. At a starting price of just over £14,500 it's cheaper to buy than the Sport as well, plus it will cost less to run.
With that in mind, let me run you through the fuel economy - on a combined run, Suzuki states that the Attitude will be good for 51.4mpg, and CO2 emissions come in at 124g/km. Therefore, this should be a frugal little runaround to get you from A to B, only with a bit more exterior aggression.

*Afternoon all! (or whatever time it is where you are). Apologies for the later-than-planned upload - I scheduled this video for 2pm tomorrow, not today... That's what happens when you're up until silly o'clock to edit a video! Anyway, I hope you enjoy the video - don't be afraid to ask any questions you may have about the car. Big thanks to Dave from AutoBears for pairing up with me for this video - don't forget to check his content out* Check out AutoBears! KZbin channel: kzbin.info/door/9bN... Hey great review. I picked up my attitude yesterday. Fun little car for my budget. Could I ask you, the main dashboard information display, are you able to light it up more to show more info? I can’t work out how. It just has time and temp at the top, then a the fuel usage at the bottom with mpg/mileage above, and then a tiny gear suggestion arrow above that leaving the rest blank and looks weird? Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi Aaron. I've watched both the Swift reviews you did and you commented on the differing ride qualities you perceived in the two versions - Any ideas whether Suzuki made revisions?

Hi there, thanks for watching, apologies in my delay in responding. This was such a long time ago that honestly I can't remember. Sorry, I know that doesn't help.

I can take a cheapish interior, for all that kit and reliability. Suzuki are brilliant for that.

Yeah, it's difficult to complain about a hard plastic dashboard at that price, especially when you look at what comes as standard. Thanks for watching.

@@CarObsession Aaron, as the owner of a Honda, I don't really give a toss about perceived quality (i.e. soft-touch materials much loved by car reviewers). It's reliability, ease of driving and economy that I look for, so the Suzuki is A.O.K. in my book. Great review.

How on earth is the insurance group way higher than my 150bhp Astra Sri? I was thinking of changing it over for one of these as I only get about 22mpg. Crazy!!

Thank you for this enjoyful review! :-) Is it possible for you to make a Hyundai i20 1.0t review? I am considering buying a new car and Suzuki Swift, Hyundai i20 and Nissan Micra are my final choices. Thank you in advance.

Hello Sergio, thank you so much for watching, and thank you for the kind feedback. I don't have a lot of access to Hyundai cars, but if I get the chance to review an i20 I will.

I think you have got your numbers mixed up with the weight. According to the brochure, the 1.2 dualjet hybrid 4x4 weighs 980kg, but the standard fwd version weighs only 890kg. Which isn't very much at all and more than 150kg less than the most basic (1.1) Fiesta.

Suzuki changed what kit was included shortly after it was released, so I believe that is the reason why, thanks for watching.

Isn't the real reason behind this car's existence, that the proper Swift Sport is considered hard to repair and therefore comes with horrendous group 35 insurance, despite not being especially fast?
@CarObsession
@CarObsession 5 жыл бұрын
It could be, but as you can imagine, Suzuki wouldn't market it that way, haha. Thanks for watching.

Hi is the swift with the 1L boosterjet better than the attitude 1.2L engine?
@CarObsession

Hi Julie, that's a bit of a broad question. Better in regards to performance? Or economy? Or refinement?

Performance? Can't decide on the swift attitude or the swift sport. Or go for the 1.0 boosterjet. Overall performance really 👍

The Boosterjer has more power, and is turbocharged, IIRC the 1.2 is NA, but I must confess, it's been a long time since I drove any Swift. Thanks for watching 👍🏽.

If you want the sporty looks but not the running costs, the Attitude is the one to get, I've had mine for a year now and it's perfect for me. However I'm wanting to upgrade to the Sport eventually so if you can get one, go for it.

Hi there, thanks for watching. When did you buy the car? The reason I ask is that the original specification of the car changed after it was released/announced. Originally this car was based on the base model, therefore if didn't have that much kit, but it was cheaper.

My car is a 68 plate registered in January. My car doesn’t have the attitude badge on the rear. So I guess this means mine is the early model?

Yes, quite possibly, although I believe even the first models had the Attitude badge on the rear.
