The Sammy Davis Jr. skit is one of my best also. It stayed with me for all these decades since seeing it as a teenager. It was well written, well acted, while touching upon race relations and bigotry in this country. The best part, at the end when he says Good Bless you too Mrs Whitley. There was no animus or ill will, just a deep understanding of how some people are racist without knowing they are. It’s what they have learned and live. Still relevant today in 2020.

At that time ?? It's still alive and well Shelly !! If you grew up under that stuff - you expect things to stay the same .When you run into resistance to how you were raised, you'll get offended - like Carol's character was. I still run into old (and baby boomer bigots who grew up under the JIM CROW system of the South- who hate the way things are now )all the time. Then you have their children - who deny their racist beliefs, but will not date nor marry anyone of another race . I understand their view ,for they don't want their family to have race problems. They have been raised to believe a certain way - and are afraid to change - to the point of defending what they believe, quite violently.
