Merry Christmas!!! What a year 2018 has been, the best Christmas gift has been 8 months in the making, and that's all of YOU! Thank you for being such an amazing community, here's my gift for you. When we think of the standard Christmas carol, we usually think joyous and celebratory, but there's something about Carol of the Bells (originally Shchedryk, written by the Ukrainian composer Leontovych) that is just so magical, but still captures the Christmas spirit so well. The song sounds like that because it uses the first four notes of the melody of he old Gregorian chant "Dies Irae" (day of wrath), which is constantly used in movies to portray death and something scary. You can find the dies Irae melody in Star Wars, The Lion King, The Shining... There is a cool Sideways video on it, I think.
