Do Grey catbirds eat nestlings? What was he trying to do?

I don't know but all the birds are interested in each other's nests. The males are always protecting the nests from other birds.

Ooooo thanks that makes sense. I love grey catbirds. Btw I have a chickadee couple who claimed a nestbox in my backyard. In the mornings the male sings until the female leaves the nestbox and then he follows her. I saw them mate exactly 2 weeks ago!
