THIS comment! Absolutely - I haven't watched TV since 2015, and there's no such thing as RTV nowadays, just egos competing for fame without any real talent. Wildlife footage is the realest thing we can watch, there's no lying in animals, no false personality, its 100% authentic. Just a joy to watch ❤ Kudos to the hard work of kind souls like Lesley and Jamie who bring us this amazing window into the unseen world of nature 😇

I agree. No manufactured baby mamas, no scripts or produced daily activities or planned blackouts at parties. No sense of entitlement that creates sudo-fame for vapid self absorbed " talented " people that trolls out a barfable product to be presented as real.

*l have always had a soft spot for Chickadees.* They are plentiful here in Winter as l feed all the birds. They are one of the few birds that actually _"look"_ for me when l exit the house - especially if the feeders are not full _(no matter WHAT time of year!)_ They will "buzz me" - nearly hitting me as l exit the door. (And even had a few "tap" the window if I'm late coming outside.) My son was astonished when one day - as he came to visit - the Chickadees landed on his shoulder and hat....looking for me (and food!). *He said "Mom! Who ARE you!?!* _Gotta love the Chickadees!!!_

That question would be answered if we knew whether cowbirds are raised by chickadees. The sneaky cowbird will lay an egg in another bird's nest hoping it'll be raised by that family.

Lucy the reason the mother rotates the eggs is so that the internal part of the egg becomes more developed. Chickens will do the same thing about rotating eggs within their nest.

Thanks so much Lesley - loved the excellent video - beginning to the end when all 6 fledged👍 If mom was lunging at and keeping danger away at night - it couldn't have been another bird as they sleep at night. Maybe a possum or racoon (if they could possibly climb the poke or jump from a bush onto the top of the house and peek into the hole from above) - or other predator you may see at that time. They are so cute! I guess they'll stay in the area permanently or until they fly to their own territory? Many types of conures (parrot) do the snake dance too. :) - Stephanie

The Jays in my neighborhood are numerous and respond to every Hawk call. Every time you here a Hawk, by the time you get outside, it's probably one of the Jays trying to locate the Hawk that you will find first. Keep up the good work. Peter Peter Peter!

@@LesleytheBirdNerd I had a bird that would greet me every day I stepped out of my apt/house. I'm not sure if it was a Flycatcher or a Kinglet. It would get very close and give a chirping sound as it stayed very close on the tree but would retreat a little when I approached. It had long tail feathers. Any ideas? EDIT: I have a video of one of my encounters. Let me know if you want to see it.

Leslie I loved it! This entire wonderful record of the nesting procedure, and a glimpse into my favourite birds nesting behaviour was thrilling for me. Ever since during a nature walk many years ago, while I was munching on some sunflower seeds I was surprised and thrilled when a pair perched on my hand and started searching through those seeds looking for an appetizing seed. Ever since that moment when I thought my heart might explode with wonder and delight I have loved my chickadee visitors. I look forward to all the films you release. Your viewpoint is exactly the thing that always puts a smile on my face. Thank you!

This is just marvellous, rivalling any prime time nature doc footage for sure 👌🏻 I love how you've brought your passion to life Lesley, sharing your wonderful gift, indepth knowledge and experiences in a way we can all enjoy, learn and benefit from. Your narration is perfect too; clear, concise, authentic and genuine. You educate without sounding preachy, obnoxious or insincere. Using a tone/pace that is easy to follow and steady enough to digest, without becoming painfully slow and patronising. You also manage to fit in a wealth of information without resorting to that unnatural and all too common, modern style of rushed audio. Often used in adverts designed for short attention spans, where every pause for breath is edited out, thus creating a high speed artificial monologue which again, comes across as disingenuous. Kudos to you and Jamie for your great work, and bringing us this wonderful window into the unseen world of nature. Best wishes to you both from England, UK 🇬🇧✌🏻🙂

I always had Carolina wrens nest in the box on a dogwood tree. The mother is very protective. This tiny bird told me off one time when I welcomed a cat in my yard. For Christmas, I received another bird house. I put it deep in my thorny climbing rose. I wondered if anyone would visit it since I couldn’t get more than eye level. Well, the wren loved it. The thorns kept unwanted visitors out. This video helped me to see how scary such intruders are.

The dad is always first to hiss at me then mom soon follows too. Now they don't hiss unless I try hand feeding them. She was such a good mum, loved to see her shaping the cup, keeping it clean and defending her brood with lots of help from Dad.
