Nobody has had any more pressure on them in DCI history than the drumline during the drum break of this show's Finals runthrough. And they nailed it.

As I drummer, I remember being there and my heart was beating through my chest watching the drummers. A dropped stick or a crushed diddle could have been the difference between gold and silver
@karmew322 жыл бұрын
@@a-gappower1574 it applied especially for this line this they were relatively underachieving compared to both the rest of the corps and the other lines.

@@karmew32 they scored 6th in finals with a 18.7 which is very low for a winning show and is the reason why for a show this great on so many levels it only had a 98.3. You give them something like the bluecoats perc. score (19.2) and the show could’ve had a more fitting score of 98.8
@karmew322 жыл бұрын
@@Mattyfear percussion accounts for 10% of the entire score, so a 19.2/20 would've actually been worth 9.6/10, giving them a 98.55.

I was perusing judging scores on the DCI website. Looked at 2013, and could see there was something special about this CC show. Monstrous.

It's still one of my favorite shows of all time, but I also have no idea what it's really about. Doesnt matter!

James Damon One of the horn players that marched that year was a tech at my high school. He said that the show essentially had three main parts, energy (E) which is pretty self explanatory, mass (m) which was apparently the drum section (probably because it’s “heavier” though I forget the actual explanation) and then the speed of light squared (c^2) essentially a huge number, which they expressed as “infinite love” before they tie it all together at the end. Either that or it’s about time, length, and mass dilation due to near-light speed relativistic velocities, but somehow I don’t think that came across super well.

My interpretation was that love can surpass time and space - he enters into a “portal” on side one and exits the “portal” on side two. It’s so effective how they lined up her waving to him through stretched lengths of space. Not to mention the entire ballads representation of love. I’m not sure if that’s what they were going for, but it’s beautiful either way. 12:25

Yeah, the ending is one of more beautiful moments in DCI history. The use of the two wormholes, to depict travelling faster than the speed of light - and how love is infinite. Top it off with the rest of the guard travelling across the field at "relatively" different speeds during the last chord, but all of them dying before they reach their destination - but the two lovers are there are the park bench at the end. Absolutely powerful.

Thanks for capturing the their great performance from this viewpoint. I'm noticing things I hadn't seen before. Like the vocal performers going on and off the field, several pit players also in the hornline and the hornline/rifle player performance with the color guard. Interesting!

Yeah I’d never seen the horn line rifle duet either til this very moment. Finally she spoke.

Are voiceovers required in DCI nowadays? Trying really hard to appreciate the amazing CC hornline over the voiceovers...

its really not the same as it was in the 80's and 90's.....what happened to jamming hornlines and adrenaline pumped shows. like seriously....who looks up dci shows on KZbin to hear poetry and see the hornline hugging each other?
