The high brass line is incredible, but I think the low brass deserves special recognition here. Everybody expects high brass to have the crazy-ass runs and sixteenth note -triplet passages. High brass did an fantastic job delivering, but the low brass did, too. Those are some phenomenally difficult and insane runs for low brass to execute, and they definitely delievered

@@rickpantoja2773 the way i like to think of it is the skill level within the competitive program. Those of you arguing about perfect scores clearly don't understand the judging system. First and foremost, the goal is to compare the scores to the other performing corps. As such, such score comparisons from year to year are useless at best. A perfect one year could be a 19.4 another, due to corps placement, spread usage, and many other factors. As a member of Crown from '10-12, I would say the most impressive thing we did was win best brass while performing 4th from the end in 2011. And we still can't believe the quality coming from the 2013 brassline!

I marched 1993 with the Harloff brothers and we thought we were pretty damn good as a horn line. Hell, we were the best for our time IMO. We couldn't hold a candle to Crown's line. The 2014 show was so whimsical, it almost lacked gravitas. The arrangement was so playful, with nuances of The Jetsons and other kitsch Sci Fi references that it almost lost depth. The hornline's power exceeded the breadth of the arrangement. The Welcome Home ending was a bit saccharine and G rated. I would have changed the ending to be a bit more hard-edged with some kind of bump of sobriety, just for depth and variety-- the hornline was completely capable of a powerhouse ending. The next year, of course, they took that criticism, and went all the way in the opposite direction with Inferno, based on the darkest and deepest classic ever.
