We were fishing a big ledge that the grouper tend to go up under and break you off. It's not about setting the hook hard... it's about setting it quick and putting pressure on him to keep him from getting into the ledge.

People don't understand how the Grouper run for their holes. You have to bring them up out of the ledges or they will break off. Great video!

Do you guide the line onto the red senator or do you just reel it in and let the line work its self out. I am trying to figure out if I need to guide the line on with my hands while reeling in a fish with the senator i have.

if you have a full spool you have to guide it on... we rarely use the senators anymore... I use PENN Spinfisher 8500 reels spooled with 80lb braid on PENN Rampage jigging sticks.

The reason you guys missed so many fish is that you're really not supposed to have a big hookset with circle hooks. You're pretty much just supposed to start reeling.

Very good advice. Agreed the circle hook slides to the corner of the mouth more or less they hook themselves
