This is the sign my follicular phase needed. Feeling so inspired that I just stood in the corner of my bedroom for fifteen straight minutes and silently stared at everything. My husband is concerned because he knows something's coming. Looking forward to the kitchen version of this and giving my mans an anxiety disorder.

hack for the expensive pillows: go to a store, get nice fabric you like, pick out a nice pillow shape and choose some design accents and either learn sewing or go to a friend who does and ask nicely. Well, from a developmental psychology standpoint, the art is pretty good for a nursery! Babies prefer red as a color and stark contrasts, so this is much better than the usual pastel pictures that small babies can't even recognize. 😊

Hey Caroline - sitting in the flat I’ve just moved into by myself as a single twenty something guy surrounded by full packing boxes and work to do. I’ve been anticipating this move for a long time and have been trying to make sure my home will feel comfortable, creative, calming and like mine after having lived in places that have sapped my energy for years. Tonight I was really run down after a difficult few days of work and moving, and wondering where to find the motivation to keep unpacking boxes. Started watching this video and instantly wanted to get back on my feet and keep at it. Few other people in my life really care about this sort of thing but I’m finding an enjoyment in decor and design recently after never really feeling drawn to it before, and just sampling the energy and passion you have for this really reminded me what I’m working towards. Thankyou for that and for the inspo!!

Mother of a babe here! The nursery shaming online is REAL lol. Artwork shouldn't be hung on a wall adjacent to a crib, BUT. If you look, it's on a recessed wall about 1 foot away from crib. I think that is totally fine. The parents are also obv into safety given they have a legit-grade monitor hanging above the crib. You were justified in fighting online w/ this stranger ahhaha. Thanks for sharing nursery inspo! For mine, I made my own artwork of a landscape. Super cheap and a creative way to channel my nesting instincts - knowing my son will have artwork I made him forever is so much better than buying a generic nursery print online. Can't wait to see what you do for your little one(s) when the time comes!

I think you will set good boundaries in the proper time and am sure you'd be super protective of your kids' privacy and your own maternal sanity some day. I look for gorgeous sheets, silky duvets, low lighting, somewhere to sit and take off my clothes, shoes, a soft rug to dig my feet in. And velvet pillows. Hahaha. I counted maybe 7 or 8 velvet pillows in these inspo photos. However, point taken, world. Stop going to sleep in unbeautiful spaces. This is your dream time. Make your fantasies come true. I have always felt safe here. The very comfortable chair I'm sitting in belonged to a neighbor that was committed to the state mental hospital. I used to own a rocking chair that belonged to the first person who died if Aids in my city. Just saying.

The really big headboards like the one shown in at around 8:35 are kind of neat in that they act like a rug does on the floor for defining a space. Like, "Hello, this is the nighttime space where we sleep but also have places to put our books or phones as we hunker down for the night, and this giant headboard is showing you where that space is." It's basically acting as a vertical rug.

Agree. The only thing I’d say is carefully think about having 2 tone walls. After living with orangey TnG half way up the yellowy cream walls, I’ve painted the whole room white. This felt like adding 4” to the height. Then I put the curtains just under the crown moulding and that added another foot of height. I now stand taller in here but beforehand the ceiling was closing in on me. Love the voices. When my kids were little and I got sick of my own voice, I started singing the instructions. ❤

Watching this from Ukraine before going to bed. You video made my day, Caroline! As always, you are so charming and funny! Love your ideas of layers and unexpected popping of color! I would really like this to be a series and it would be great to see some kookie ideas for the kitchen--it's my favorite space in the whole wide world!!! Please take care! Big bear hug!!!

Hi Caroline! I'm a big fan and I actually got my mom into your videos too! She's been really into redesigning her house, clearly inspired by your videos! It's so cool to see her having fun with designing her home instead of stressing about it. Every time I visit her house her style has evolved and there are new and interesting things to see. :) We often talk about "What would Caroline do with [enter interior design problem here]?" Are you planning on doing anymore of those critique/advice interior design videos for viewers' rooms?

Love this type of video 💕 Story time.... My ex's mother once gave me a TedTalk ('case it sure as f*ck wasn't a conversation from me) on how she didn't believe in dressing or exposing babies to colour. That 'babies should be dressed in white and the nursery should be a very pale colour'. That you should then start SLOWLY introducing colour at around 6months. I was not pregnant. I had no plan to be, especially by her son. I think about her crazy ass every time I see a nursery and how disapproving she'd be 😂

Ok so just a note on the depression comments, I FEEL YOU. Especially how much design affects the mood. I walk into my semi dark (lacking natural light) living room and i just melt onto the couch and dont move for hours. I binge interior design info and visuals so that i can learn enough that i dont make mistakes in my home thag can cause my downward spiral. Lol. Its funny but not really. Ok imma go now.

OK, this might be one of my faves so far: chill, but fascinating and I felt like I was learning a bunch. PLUS . . . "natural light might be what's keeping me from ending it all". Exactly. Also, just for the record, I enjoy the voices. The Voices have some pretty good ideas.😉 And finally, speaking of an accent color that makes the scene pop, the cute red sweater highlights your lovely gray-green eyes that I had never noticed after watching ALL your videos. Nice tough. Bravo! Do it again. How about home office inspo? Dang! my office is just a bin of work.

Love this for a series! If you did a series like this I'd watch literally any of them but a room that I have a hard time finding inspo on is "foyers" (I call them entryways). Thanks for being you!

I LOVED this video Caroline. I think it’s helping me to view inspo differently. I feel like lately I look at a picture and feel like I need to get an exact style/pattern/item that I like, rather than looking at WHY I like it and then applying that in my own way. I would love to see a bathroom inspo video next!!

Here's something I'd like to see, and it was the nursery that brought it to mind. Unusual or awkward spaces like niches and nooks that are built into the space. Creative and unexpected ways to use them and like them. Making them less awkward.

I remember when I was 31 emigrating from England to Australia with three kids under 8. Sometimes I used to dream of being on my own when I had moments of feeling overwhelmed with the girls and feeling isolated in a new country. Fast forward 20 years and now i am an empty nester minus an ex hubby and now I am finally living alone. Life is a constant cycle of evolution and learning to be happy in yourself along the way. The low times really ground you and make you a stronger person. As a new subbie, you really are a breath of fresh air and you remind me of myself right now but 51 not 31. Learning to live alone. You’ve made me really enjoy my own personal space. Thank you 😊

There are lots of good design videos on styles and trends and basic design rules. Your videos make me see the room as a piece of art- no one else does that for me. I still remember you saying that interior design is a mindfulness practice and I feel that as you talk about these rooms.

This was awesome. I know what I like but don’t really think about why I like it. I’m going through a major decluttering at the moment and find that a part of this is wanting to change the design of what is on my walls. Would really like to have you do more of these. Living room especially interests me.

What I've learned from you about accent colors is taking me to the next level. I had palettes and layouts down, but everything started to feel samey, too much flow if that makes sense. The little pops that stand out are what I needed.
