Oh! I've used Elizabeth Ardens retinol, and usually I love their products, but I felt my skin looked more aged and dull from using it so I stopped before the bottle was used. When you said that retinol was drying, it explained so much. I already have chronically dry skin with periods of serious need for oil. I now have an idea how to use retinol in the future, if I try again. Thank you!

I'm so glad you made the point to get what you know you'll use. I have wasted money on so many pharmacy products that I never use because I hate the way it feels on my face. So it doesn't matter that it's 20% azelaic acid, I avoid using it because it's tacky and pills like mad! It has made me appreciate the importance of formulation over just looking at ingredients lists and percentages. You've made me feel less guilty so thank you!

Great vid thanks! PS - Love Dolly too Caroline! Highly recommended peeps is the Dolly pod doco about her life (Dolly Parton's America). It's really really well done. In-depth, researched, enlightening and entertaining. I listened to the podcast about let me see ummm 9 months ago or so. It's about 8 episodes, goes into Dolly's upbringing, meaning behind her songs, her career, politics, equality etc. And of course a tune or two. I liked Dolly before, not a big fan or anything but you know, enjoyed her. This podcast series really took me by surprise, in a good way. Hearing this side of her story and also hearing her interviews dotted throughout the podcast episodes, now I think she is all round bloody FAB! Do yourself a favour and have a listen. You're welcome :) x

@gailchen53144 жыл бұрын
Dear Caroline, I have ezcema, usually need to use 5 to 7 layers of products to make my skin stand 8 hours of A/C. Feeling a bit extra dehydrated right now. I use clinique moisture surge spray, then a fermented herbal extract-fragrance free essence, then Clarins double serum, an oil, finally a cream. Now, I got indeed labs collagen, radiance, and mineral booster. Where should I add these? Would really appreiciate it if you could answer my question. Thanks very much!!! ...Miss your yellow sweater, BTW. Maybe you could wear that next week.

Brilliant! Thank you Caroline. I know you like the Josh Rosebrook hydrating accelerator. I love it it. Curious - how does it differ from Jordan Samuel Hydrate the Mist?
@MSUSPARTANS19734 жыл бұрын
Don’t quote me, please! But, Josh is a big believer in essential oils in skincare, and his mist is packed with them. Jordan is the opposite. Josh’s mist comes in 3 sizes. Jordan’s comes in 1. I find Jordan’s mist more hydrating, but nothing can beat the scent, or the actual “mister,” of Josh’s. With all that said, I wouldn’t get either mist. A mist is something most people use pretty liberally. I’d invest my money in a good serum or facial oil. Josh’s product is made in the USA, and shipping within the USA is $18! The reason I wouldn’t buy Jordan’s mist is because it’s just his original HYDRATE in mist form. I’d purchase his HYDRATE serum- because that actually stays on the face, and a cheaper mist to spray underneath. I can recommend a bunch of mists to you at every price point. I’ve used them all! Let me know if you’d like help.😀

You should choose your serum depending on your skin problems (pigmentation, wrinkles, acne, dehydration, ...), less than on your skin type (dry, oily, normal, combo). For the dryness, I love the Clarins double-serum. Worked wonders on my mother (same age, same skin than you) 😊

Somebody asked if peptides canceling out vitamin c. There have been a lot of videos lately about copper peptides and apparently the copper doesn’t work with vitamin c. I’m not sure if it is a certain vitamin c like l-ascorbic acid. I think I’ve also heard that you shouldn’t use copper peptides with vitamin a. But...there are some serum formulations with copper peptide and vitamin c combined, like the one from IS Clinical just to confuse everybody. I just finished a collagen peptide serum from Le Mieux, and it was lovely. I used it over my vitamin c in the morning, under my moisturiser. Love Le Mieux products. 😊 Question...if your hyaluronic acid is a watery serum, and your vitamin c is a gel or cream serum, should you still put the watery hyaluronic acid on top? I thought it was always thinnest to thickest formulations. 🤔
