Hello: it's a year later and I hope you see this comment. This is exactly the kind of video painters want; to watch as someone works through a simple composition and narrates their decisions. KZbin is stuffed with painting tutorials, but THIS is the best kind, and too rare. Subscribed just now, and really hope you fire it back up again and let us watch you paint. No editing needed, just record your process and upload. Will be watching --

I never would have looked at that plate and thought, ‘hmm that would make a great painting’ and I would have been dead wrong. This is a beautiful still life. I like how you started with a watercolor pencil to mark your shadows, I’ll have to try that. I have a hard time mixing colors to make shadows warmer or cooler, so this was a great look into how to do it and how to look at it. Thank you for the lovely video.

I loved the video and it was very helpful to understand the process of setting the color values. My question is, how do you know that you are not overworking the colors? I guess that comes with the experience and with the level of detail you want to have in the painting. Thanks for sharing! :)
@CarolPascaleStudio4 жыл бұрын
I think with gouache it's important to try to have your values correct before applying to avoid overworking. It's challenging but gets a little easier with lots of planning, practice and experimentation. Thank you :)

This was really good - really enjoyed this video! Great job! Have you tried Flashe paint? I love it even more than gouache - it's flat like gouache but it's permanent like acrylic - it has a nice vintage poster look.
@CarolPascaleStudio4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Sandi! I've heard of Flashe but not used it. I remember that one of my favorite mural artists, Graham Rust, used it for his murals. Have been using Holbein Acryla Gouache a lot lately and am enjoying it :)

Hi! Thank you for the video! I love the colours and overall composition of it! May I ask why did you choose tp sketch with colour pencil? I have seen so many artists do it, but dont really understand the practice. Thank you again! Subscribed 🧡
@CarolPascaleStudio3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! I've been using a watercolor pencil so it will be easier for the lines to blend in or disappear when I go over them with paint. Thanks for watching!
@rosellah2984 жыл бұрын
Hi! I really love how you painting this. It really inspires me. And this video was really good. I'm wondering though, do you wait till the paint dries before working on the next layer?

I absolutely adore this painting! It was especially interesting to watch because I want to know how this style is created. Did you sometimes use a damp brush without paint to blend colors on the painting?
@CarolPascaleStudio6 жыл бұрын
Hi there, thanks for your comments and sorry for the delay in responding to your question. With Acrylagouache you don't have much time to blend with a damp brush before it dries; it's more like acrylic paint in that respect. I just try my best to mix the correct color and value, laying the color down without blending. Hope this answers your question, thanks for watching!
@basenkaua6 жыл бұрын
@@CarolPascaleStudio Oh, so that was acryla gouache :) Well, then you did even more excellent job, the colors and values are more than correct, they are wonderful! The result is amazing. Thank you so much!
@CarolPascaleStudio5 жыл бұрын
@@basenkaua Oops sorry I just realized no it was not Acrylagouache, it was of course traditional gouache. Mixed up with another painting sorry :| but yes I would use a damp brush at times to soften carefully as it may pull up when you don't want it to.
