Carova Beach 4x4 Area North of Corolla NC

My brother James and I took his Jeep XJ out onto the 4x4 beach north of Corolla North Carolina, and he attempted to catch some fish.

Looks like you made it to North Swan Beach. The house way out on the beach is called the Laughing Gull. It's a matter of time until the mighty Atlantic claims that house. Driving during high tide usually is only tricky if you get towards Virginia, as you pass Carova Beach Fire Station. I've found the best surf fishing (at least in October) to be from North Swan Beach around Wash Woods (old Coast Guard Station - currently Twiddy Real Estate) and about 1 mile up. I haven't tried much farther up, but in talking to other folks they have good luck all the way up to the Virginia line. If you ever make it there in October, you have to go try fishing there. Lots of bluefish!

The area north of the ramp is not Carova Beach. Carova is a subdivision 3 miles in length at the Virginia line. The whole beach from the CURRITUCK county line is correctly known as The CURRITUCK Banks also known as the Northern Banks…not Carova Beach
