The sugar pack bait keeps on producing numbers and some decent sized carp for this area. Thanks for watching everyone, feel free to ask any questions or leave any comments. Much appreciated always.

Enjoyed the video...well done!! I was curious regarding your video gear. I have only been using my iPhone but want to upgrade my game. The quality of the videos you produce are excellent. Therefore, any suggestions regarding the gear would be greatly appreciated.

Appreciate it. I probably should break down the gear I'm using in a short video and go over the details one day. I run a GoPro Hero 11 on the chest mount and it's recording at 2.7k 60fps, I use an external battery pack in my pocket to keep it running continuously without having to power on/off during the sessions. Overheating in high temps can be an issue, so finding shade or a white casing (some company makes a 3d printed one on amazon that helps deflect some of the heat since the GoPro is black). I'll run a GoPro Hero 10 on my tripod (simple extendable floating tripod off amazon) and it's filming at 1080p 60fps, also on an external battery pack so it can film continuously. I can probably get away with running it at 2.7k or 4k, but again overheating can be an issue in the warmer months and with direct sun so I sometimes go from 1080p to 4k. In the colder months I'll film continuous at 4k 60fps on both units. I have 512gb SD Cards in both of the GoPros. Theoretically at 4k I think this stores about 10 hours of footage. I'll have to check all the different settings I have on the GoPros, but again, this might be a good video idea for some of my downtime with the ACL recovery right now. So putting that down on my notes and will do it eventually. DJI Mics are a nice to have but I'm sure there are several other options for decent mics. The DJI mics have internal storage of about 15 hours of recording so it's nice to just clip it on my chest, press record and not worry about it. As for editing, I have a Macbook Pro M3 2024 model. I'm a software engineer, so that's why it's nice, new and high end since it's my tool for income. I use Final Cut Pro on the Mac for editing. I'm not sure what all software for video editing is out there but I'm certain a rival to Final Cut Pro (FCP) exists for PC or Linux even. One nice feature about Final Cut Pro is the ability to "sync" clips using the metadata/timestamps of different AV files. You can select the clips and FCP will process them and try to sync it all up and then it's just some editing work in terms of doing picture-in-picture, effects, transitions, etc. Which is another thing I enjoy doing. Again, PC probably has some really good editing if you do anything on PC that rivals the features in FCP. I can't think of anything else right now but if none of that makes sense just let me know, happy to help. One thing that came to mind, you mention the iPhone. If you're not already, and if your iPhone supports it, when you go to record be sure you have 4k enabled (if it supports it) and try 60fps. My iPhone always opens to defaults at 1080p and 30fps, so when I want to film nicer quality I have to tap the settings to bump to nicer resolutions/frame rate. So if resolution is an issue for you, that could be a big help. Then a nice mic that has an adapter for the iPhone, external battery pack to keep it charged, you can make some great quality stuff. I looked at those rods/reels you suggested and have them in a cart ready to go, but ACL surgery costs even with insurance was a chunk so will be waiting to upgrade the carp fishing gear 😅.

Greatly appreciate the information you provided. I do currently run my iPhone at 4K/60fps. I am going to add a mic after seeing how much audio I lose not having it. Good luck on the impending surgery. I am sure everything will go well and you will have a speedy recovery. On a fishing note, the carp fishing in our area of CA has been very challenging. Finding where the big ones are holding up on the lakes continues to be a challenge. Been focusing on stripped bass in the interim; they are getting very active over here (lots of boils).

@@WestCoastCarpSlayer The mic will definitely help improve your audio, also if you do any editing of the videos look around and see if the software has anything to do "voice isolation" and you could try increasing that. The carp fishing was really getting good in my area it seems, not sure if there's a natural reason for that or if I'm just finally finding better spots and having a better understanding of what I'm doing. I'd like to think it's at least a combination if not me just improving my carp skills/knowledge. I've only caught a handful of striped bass and they were fun. Biggest was 7.5lb and caught him on a spoon near the dam here.

are you measuring the sugar or just going with it lol

When I mix the pack bait in the gallon bags, it's about 1 cup of sugar. I'll measure everything out next time and get a better idea to make a video on ratios and do some underwater testing with it.
