Hi Simon, I have been doing France for more than 20yrs. Fished a lot of different styles, and sizes. In terms of trips I would always recommend for new people to use an angling company. Just as these cater for many different styles Drive and Survive catered and accommodation. When I first started going I used Angling Lines a great company who have already done the venue homework to some point and the crossings are included in the price. This along with an itinerary of times etc. Gets you there without too much fuss, and builds your confidence to future trips. Make sure you have the right gear rods and lines / Hooks before you go. Most waters you can use normal UK gear but some are more specialized. The waters I fish are now technical and large leads Braid and min Size 6 hooks are in order. Too many people go under gunned, be that's your homework side. I always make sure I take some sort of first aid kit. As in plasters / Tablets for Headaches / the Trots (LOL) and Colds. Also things like olbas or vicks, as finding or understanding the labeling abroad can be tricky. Hand Gels and sterile packs just in case your get cuts etc all help to make the trip easier. In terms of Mossy's I use Tumble Dry sheets. The things you put in to make you clothes smell nice. It sounds crazy but they work, as I was told originally by someone from South Africa. You just lightly rub them on exposed skin and put one in your pocket. I also hang a couple in the bivvy or brolly and it stops them biting. No idea why but it does, and as its a bit more natural than sprays which have Deet in them. It doesn't taint your baits. Many of my friends take them to France and also use in the UK where it stops Horse Flies getting you. Hopefully these tips will help as well, and particularly in the Summer months remain hydrated. As its easy to drink tea /coffee or Beer and Wine. Not realizing that you need water to not dehydrate in the conditions and prevent sunstroke along with a good hat. Tight Lines for May as I will be out in June this year at Labyrinth - Bienvenue a Les Beaux Lacs after those big uns. Carping Chris.

Hi, nice video again mate. There was a bigger mirror in their as ive had a mirror 27lb 02oz in 2017and my mate had the same fish 2 weeks later at 27lb 6oz. The fish you had in the video i also had at 26lb 10oz in 2017. Im not boasting, interesting to see the weights are down. Seems to be common across the island this/last year! I have pics if your interested

Rob M ah that’s interesting mate. I asked quite a few people who seemed to think this was the biggest at the moment. I suppose it’s possible the bigger one has died now if it hasn’t been out for two years. Be nice to think it’s still there and growing though 👍
@robm74735 жыл бұрын
@@SimonDewCarpFishing Yeah fingers crossed its still swimming about the lake. Reckon it will be down on weight thats why its not the biggest mirror at present?! I came off the club in 2018 so unfortunately have no idea on recent captures and weights

Rob M you might just weigh fish wrong you can easily add 3 pounds to a fish if you weigh it wrong

Hi mate, loving the videos. I was just wondering if you could do a video on how you approach fishing a new swim, finding your spots etc?
@SimonDewCarpFishing5 жыл бұрын
Ric Smales hi mate cheers for your comment. I’ve actually done a video on spot choices if you look through my channel. I’m thinking of doing one on reading your swim though so thanks for the suggestion 👍

Great advice as always. Just a pointer from me on mozies. I use Avon skin so soft. I get a very bad reaction to mozy bites and that stuff is the best thing I've used. Used by special forces as well! Give it a go👍
@SimonDewCarpFishing5 жыл бұрын
cheers mate yeah I’ve got some
@ParaDaz825 жыл бұрын
Special forces use Jungle Formula aka Jungle Juice. I used it throughout my army career. Stinks but you won't have any trouble with mozzys after using it
@1dowsey4 жыл бұрын
2 parts baby oil 1 part dettol and you will never get bitten. Ghillies in Scotland swear by it

dan askham ah nice to hear mate. Any advice at all?
@danaskham76735 жыл бұрын
@@SimonDewCarpFishing it was a really unseasonably cold snap when I went. Peg to the left of the spit, tight under the trees on the island did most of the fish. They tend to be tight to the island or margins from what I experienced. I found pink pop ups or tipped baits. Are you taking the s core? Watch out for the coipu, they have been known to dive on baits and steal your bait if you leave it outside your bivvy overnight.
@SimonDewCarpFishing5 жыл бұрын
dan askham cheers for the advice mate. Yes I’ll be using S-Core and might take some of Richworth’s new bait too 😉
@danaskham76735 жыл бұрын
@@SimonDewCarpFishing no worries. Jason will put you on the fish if he can. Look forward to hearing how you get on there. I'm hoping to get on forest ponds this month if I can find time, before it warms up and they start spawning.
