Putting out a float on the quiver rod made me laugh, only because I do this sort of thing often myself! Changing tactics and cobbling together something that works is more important than "the done thing". Great vid as always guys.

i often use a quiver tip rod to cast floats because i can cast so much more accurately and it doesn't affect the hook hold either

Still, one could go for a pretty sticky groundbait that doesn't break down to quickly :) It can be advantageous. I make my own by boiling cornmeal in water (1 1/3 times the weight of the cornmeal that I use) flavoured with belachan, chili powder and salt. Then, I add boiled feedcorn. The end result is almost dough-like, and it sticks to my method feeder really well. It takes a long time to break down, but in this case, that's beneficial, because it keeps on leaking flavour in the water, thus attracting fish. The only thing is that I can't bury my hookbait in it, because that would prevent the fish from getting it, so I use it in conjunction with a 20 lb supple braided helicopter rig (main line is 40lb abrasion resistant braid due to the weedy and snaggy conditions on my favourite water).

I've had one of those John Wilson rods for years but sadly broke about 4 inches of the top of Avon section. Totally gutted. Love the rod but really struggling to get another one. Can still use it with the quiver top section tho. But really miss not having the Avon top. Anyway another totally awesome vid thanks Graeme and Mike

What is the best fly for brown trout in a lake there is some stocked and wilds in there if that would change the fly choice thanks guys I subscribed love the show every Friday at 7 come to watch your videos best part of my week
@eldsprutandedrake
@eldsprutandedrake 8 жыл бұрын
If you really had watched this show every Friday, or watched any fishing show, or ever fished, you would know that there is no way to answer that question. There is no such thing as an overall "best" bait, be it a lure, live bait, fly or whatever. In your case it depends on the time of year, the weather, the time of day, what kind of food the fish are use to in the lake i.e. insects, other fish etc. What insects are currently hatching/swarming around the area, what the fishing pressure on the lake is and what other anglers are using and so on... You simply have to try something, if you catch fish it works, if you don't then try another technique, or try the same technique another day ^^

Ive recently picked up a nice feeder rod and im a bit stumped and hope you can help, using 6lb mainline and a 23g method feeder, once ive loaded it up and i reel it in ready to cast it makes a weird rubbing/scratching sound. I cant find anything online and i want to know if this is normal. Thanks Just to add i think its from the tension and the short spaces between the eyes on the quiver section but looking for a little clarification

Get a jeweller's eyeglass and check if the inserts are in any way grooved from wear. Or are you using braid line ? That's all I can think of but maybe someone else has an idea what might cause it.

So just any feeder rod?
@TAFishing
@TAFishing 7 жыл бұрын
Yeh any feeder rod should work fine with the method feeder, just check the casting weight of it will be able to cast out the weight of your feeder if you are casting long distance. Most of our feeder work is done a rod to two rod lengths out from the bank so casting weight isn't so much of an issue - Mike

TAFishing Yeah it's almost as if the fish don't care about it as much as anglers do. Wrong set up or not, it's worked perfectly. My philosophy is, never want to be an angler more than you want to catch fish. Cracking work as always TA Fishing. 🖒
