Yes used to use mussels if we could find them back in the 60s brought back great memories of pre baiting and when you fished you hoped it had work and bring fish in to the swim..Used to leave a note that it had been pre baited and could you leave it for the next 2 days and fishermen then used to be respectful

Graeme, try sliding the plumbing lead (or any bomb) onto your line and tying the float directly to the end. Cast out, tighten the float down to the lead, then let it out 1ft-2ft at a time (I've got a mark on my rod at 50cm) until the float appears. Now, not only have you got the depth but you can tighten up to the lead again, reel in a couple of yards and repeat the process. Saves you lots of casting, you get a swim plumbed in no time. I use a pike float and 2 oz lead to get out really far. It also doubles up as a marker. Good videos, keep it up, I enjoy watching :)

Hey. I'm new to fishing. I only started in the Easter of 2014. I've been watching a lot of your videos since. I go to my local reservoir which holds Carp and roach but for some reason I can't catch anything. I don't know if it's my rig or what. When your fishing rods were on the bite alarms, is your drag set loose or tight? Or could you please do a video on how to catch carp the basic way. Thanks :D
@ItsJakeTheBrake
@ItsJakeTheBrake 10 жыл бұрын
what rig are you using? Imho the easiest way to catch carp and roach, for a beginner, is float fishing, because you're able to immediately spot the bite, although you should be aiming at catching roach first since playing a big carp on a matchrod can be bit tricky. Plum the depth and set your basic float rig to sit just over the bottom, throw in some groundbait and you should be getting bites. For roach you can also try fishing a bit more shallow. On sunny days I catch loads of roach about 20cm under the surface.

can you do a lure fishing video, all about tips, what to use, where to case ect, been fishing at a river the past few days, all 10 fish (6 pike, 5 perch) took the bait about 1-2 metres out, nothing at all in the middle of the river, they ranged from 1lb - 10lb 2 ounce
@ItsJakeTheBrake
@ItsJakeTheBrake 10 жыл бұрын
well unlike what most people think, most fish stay close to the bank. Thats where most microorganism are, which attract smaller fish, which in turn attract the predators. But for pike you might also want to try and find weed cover, which can be in the middle of the lake/river. Pike tend to hide in weeds and ambush their prey. Perch are nomads and move around a lot chasing their prey, but usually they can also be found in places with cover, like overhanging trees, lillies etc.

There are tons of things you can use, but outside of bulk feeds, the price point tends to step up pretty sharply, as you get into products sold for human consumption. Oatmeal, soy, beans (cooked), feed corn, crushed up cereal... They don't call carps water pigs for nothing; they eat almost anything.

This should be called how to over-bait a swim then move to try and catch a fish , , , Graeme does have some good ideas but this in my opinion is over feeding would be good if youre going to sit in the swim for a week but not good if doing just a day, still a good mix just no need to use as much even on a hungry lake. good luck tight lines.

You obviously didn't watch the video or see his full explanation. This is how your draw fish to a swim during the old off season. This is not what you do when you're coming to a fishery and fishing one day. You're talking shit about a man who has published books on fishing, what have you done?
@DonOneBryson
@DonOneBryson 5 жыл бұрын
What this does is causes fishes to stick in one area, expecting to be fed. Then you come in the next day and catch.
