Does your rug need a doctor? Do you dread having your carpets cleaned, and wait till you can’t stand it anymore? The sad fact is, all carpets should be cleaned at least once a year. In low-traffic areas, carpets can go 12 to 18 months between cleanings, but high-traffic areas may need to be cleaned on a quarterly basis.
So in this video we’ll show you 5 Things you need to know before buying or renting a carpet cleaning machine.
• We’ll discuss the number one problem with carpet cleaning machines.
• Give you professional carpet cleaning advice when using them.
• Discuss proper carpet drying.
• Cover how deal with urine
• And review the steps necessary to have a successful do-it-yourself experience.

I am a carpet cleaning technician I do recommend using a low pH rinse with a boosting agent that is a low pH that will not leave a horrible residue in order to get all of the water residue and soap residue you must do a lot of dry passes also make sure you pre-treat stains before going over any of your spots with the machine Always vacuum first before doing any deep carpet extraction and pre-treat stains first as well When doing wet passes and dry passes make sure to go over it slow until all water and residue is removed

Thanks a million for the advice!! This just all makes so much sense even if I have little experience with carpet cleaning. I just know its right bc Its common sense when you wash something with soap, you need to rinse the soap out after

I got brilliant results on 10 year old, very tired and stained carpets following your advice. I've hired machines before but never got anywhere close to the results I'd hoped for. Thanks from over the pond for sharing your expertise.

Thank-you :-) I rented a Britex form the Woolworths down the road and used your tips. The carpets have come up so good and didn't need the defoamer. Glad I saw your video first.

I like how I watched this AFTER I already cleaned my carpet with a rental. Not only did I add soap to the tank but I never did just a dry suction pass. Guess I will do it the right way next time. Thank you.

Thank you!! It is gonna be my first time I rent a carpet cleaning machine. I going to spray the liquid solution first and then just hot water and finally dry pass!

I do this but just slightly different. I use a pre spray carpet cleaner on all the stained areas. Let it sit for around 15 to 20 minutes. Then I use my commercial grade carpet cleaner, which we know is more durable, has 2 motors, one for the brushes and one for the suction but still isn't a "true" commercial grade unit to clean the carpet. The first go around, I use hot water and detergent but only 1/2 what they call for. After all, I have that pre spray on too. Then I go over one more time but use only cold water. This is to extract any soap residue as your 100% correct that soap attracts dirt!

Excellent advice. I never paid attention to when my pro came to do my carpet that they sprayed the carpet first then used their steam cleaner but that is what they did and I am doing mine in two days because he is all booked up for the holidays and I need to clean it now, so Rug Doctor it is and hope it works.
