Everyone has their own way of perfecting. This technique could be effective. I do believe in using a straight edge. This is straight up Eyeballing. You could run into a lot of trouble using the Eyeballing technique. You have to be absolutely spot on

You’re right Tim Bell This guy is getting by like so many others in the carpet business he doesn’t have a clue. The only thing he did right was cutting the seam from the back it is totally wrong and straight edges are not for beginners it’s a mistake proof tool if you know how to use it correctly.. he does not have the sense to stretch away from seams this joker has more callbacks on wrinkled carpet. And seams coming apart no doubt. Over 30 years experience Speaking here

I have some installers putting my carpet in and I could tell when they walked in it was going to be a mess. Patna hanging down, using box cutters.. They are still working on the seams, I’m gonna give it awhile and try not to jump the gun, but if I can see the seams I’m gonna raise hell with the store owner

Ok to be clear , using a straight edge does not make you a beginner...the way this dude is cutting his seams is ridiculous...if it works for him that's great , but this method is nonsense
@robertbirchfield4939 Жыл бұрын
Why do you say that
@susdad Жыл бұрын
@@robertbirchfield4939 for a nice seam you want a straight edge on both sides of carpet. This may pass for plush carpet but those crooked lines won’t work with looped carpet

Can you not follow the "grid" on the bottom? Is it not perfectly straight? D:
@stevehamman4465 Жыл бұрын
@@carlcardigan6439 , back in the day when carpet was made better, we called it ,, reverse rowing! Following the lines on the backing! You can still do it if its your only option but I've never been in that situation. In this video he is seaming last. It should be the first thing you do. Most plush carpets are straight edged, they sell a 2 4 6ft special straight edge for carpet. I have them all. Berbers, you use a row finder and a top cutter and theres still tricks on how to use them! Southern boys, have some good videos on carpet! Good day.

So I can't tell you missed 2 and some might say 3 steps. You definitely need a board under so you don't burn your padding and also you need a small 16in 2x12 on top of the seam to press the glue into the carpet to make sure no return for repair is needed

@stevehamman44653 жыл бұрын
Josh, this video shows how not to install carpet!! The carpet was rippled. You generally always burn seams , then stretch the carpet after ,pulling away from the bubbles. You don't want to stretch carpet before seamming! I've watched some of his other vids and it's like he's showing the wrong way on purpose! Southern boys have some good videos! Good luck!
