@@FloorsbySouthernboys , I also use ,,actually a drywall t-square. I used to do it like this , I would use my straight edge to keep the length straight, push my cross up against it! Do you have to seal all seams? I always did regardless! Now it's required again on all carpets in Ohio. Used to be Berbers and karastans. But one dollar and twenty minutes have saved me a lot of headaches I'm sure. I don't do videos so on other videos when people ask questions I send them to your channel. I use different techniques than you a lot but yours are correct, there are so many videos that I watch that the guys are just hack that I can't believe they would put it on Utube!!

Always cut your side seams with nap falling down also you could of layed all 3 pieces face down and place your straight edge over 2 pieces so you can cut both without moving straight edge and after seaming sides cut the length seam last.

Ruben I like your videos and I’m not in any way debating your style but over the last 50+- years of installing I’ve found some quicker ways on cutting what we call the “butt” seams. Throw that straight edge away first of all. Use that same seam cutter you used on the long side seam. Just use the blade closest to the piece your going to use so it cuts close to the yarn. No flipping carpet over two times and as you said the yarn covers over the seam edge. Just a tip from an ole guy 🙄

Use a square and you avoid all that and can cut all fill sides without notching

@@fitfloors1473 what does that matter...you are straight edging from the back. The guy just said that his straight edge cut wasn't straight in the video that's why notching helps. Use a square off your row run side and your fill pieces are going together just fine

I have a question, if teh 890L already has a "seam welder" at the back, why did you have to "seam weld", with a separate gun? Thank You.

I’ve come across plenty of jobs where rookies have tried to install rooms and they cut the carpet wrong or they run two different carpets in the wrong different directions or someone butches the carpet up so bad that you have to put a head seam in which in the carpet world is a no no!

Great video. Just a curious question. Is it okay to cross seam the 3 pieces together and then make a row cut on the piece thats made up by the 3 pieces and then seamed together with the 12ft wide carpet?
