Hey man i followed every step of the video. I got 2 questions. - How did you prevent the carplay override? - I connected everything right but the hard buttons for the check, parking, glovebox, etc don’t work. Did you have this same issue? I used to adaptor provided still not luck.

You know... if you like the ambient lighting in modern cars, you can get one of those kits that fit in between the dash and whatnot, and it'll likely close up the gap, and you get some ambient lighting 🤷‍♂️

Video was very helpful. Thanks. After installing I had no BT but the radio worked. I played around with it for 2 days (and unfortunately did not keep track of everything I did) but I also got some info from the manufacturer that coupled with what I did made everything but the backup camera worked flawlessly. The backup camera is now very pixelated so I'm gonna play around with the settings.

Lovely ❤ did same mod Even tho i did route the audio through the aux it has major troubles in transferring audio and audio blanks in calls sometimes And latency has increased so much I ended up switching back to original mmi bluetooth and couldnt be more happy

This is good info here as I have thought about making that switch to the aux input, but it seems to just make more sense to keep it on the built in mmi Bluetooth, although; this way you can’t modify the audio equalizer beyond what is available in the factory mmi which sucks

Hey man, great video. I’ve got most everything working except the rear view camera. Sometimes the parking cameras pop up when i shift to Park and i can access the rear view camera that way, however when in reverse, i get a “no signal” issue. Any ideas? Still waiting to hear back from Nunoo on it.

Nope, you still need the centre system for your mmi to work - sounds like you spilt something on it? You’ll need to replace it

@@ThatGuyTyy yeah I guess someone before me had split something, the center system is functional. I can click it in it works except moving around the MMI using the dial . I was hoping to install this and just use my finger lol I can't go into the car settings using the touch screen at all?

@ The stereo worked good! A couple issues are the wifi goes active when doors are opened so I usually have to turn of auto connect or phone calls get answered in the car not on my phone. Haven’t done a loft yet but I did do a stage 2 tune

Ty-just installed. Two questions 1. I wanna use my Bluetooth for music like you because I’ve read it sounds better-however now that I’m also Bluetoothed to this unit to allow Apple CarPlay-I have no sound from the car play -? 2. When I go to the car page-it says no signal-I’ve checked all my connects and still no signal-any thoughts on that? Thanks for you time and the video totally helped me with the install today

Make sure your output from your phone is selected to your Audi, but the volume knob once you have music playing from your phone and turn it up, it should be working

Incase anyone else is having a sound issue I just got mine installed today. I had to plug the AMI adapter into the glove box, I did not have to actually connect the aux end. Then I picked AUX on the media selection options in the original MMI. Works great, no issues so far. Not sure why this works, I tried everything else I could possibly think of and was about to give up until I randomly plugged the adapter in for giggles

⁠I activated the aux in the green menu as well and now everything has sound. ( with no aux actually plugged in) they emailed and said it would work and it does) I had to “forget” the stock q7 Bluetooth and only connect to CarPlay. Sound is perfect -only issue is that the crappy microphone on the new dash piece creates an echo for anyone you are on the phone with as it picks up their voices from the speakers-I reconnected my phone to blue tooth for calls and fixed that-but if you get a call while using wayz or maps. After the call the navigation gets disconnected and won’t make sound until shutdown and restart of the car. Even trying to switch audio source in those apps doesn’t always work- my girlfriend drives this too and she doesn’t wanna be doing that all the time so the consensus was to have crappy call quality for others to keep us from having to switch sources all the time-if anyone has found a better way let me know

Hey man- I ordered the same unit from the link and installed it in a ‘15 q7 with Bose. Everything works except no sound from CarPlay. I was wondering if you had any issues like this? I can still hear the regular radio like normal, just no CarPlay sound. Also I have the ABS, TPMS, and traction control lights on. Any ideas?

@@nelsonmeinke72after much fiddling with this unit I’ve come to the conclusion that the only real fix is to buy the $700 version from RSnav. If you look on their website they list the difference between this unit and theirs and the reason for the higher price, despite the units looking identical from the outside appearance. Mainly the fact that this unit has an outdated processor, and theirs has a much newer version. There’s also some extra wiring and hookups included with their kit.

@@JC-dr8ev yeah I didn’t know much about these radios. But the radio itself won’t work through the speakers I have to manually use the factory side of things. I’m trying to play CarPlay music and it won’t play through speakers maybe something is hooked up right I’m not sure

I plan to get this one, i just really wanted to see the music volume... i guess you cant get everything you want. RSNav has one for the q7 but they want like $820 which is rediculous but the quality is probably there.

@KhaiMahase ohhh I see what you’re saying - no there is no visible volume level which I agree is super annoying, but on the plus side the system defaults at a low level so you’ll never blow your ear drums when you first get in the car that’s

It should come with the radio, essentially it goes from the radio to the mmi connector in the glove box, it just lets you use the external audio from the new unit compared to the built in audio system

Try to drive Q5 first. Because of a smaller base it feels so bad while driving compared with Q7... And in fact it is just a bit shorter than Q7. But everyone had their own opinion...

There is a setting in the stereo that sets it to the factory backup camera and then another one to meds with the colours/ gamma

Question for the guys: I’m planning to buy a Golf 6 as my first car. I’m almost 17 (I’m a Belgian, so here you can only drive a car if you are 17 or older). Is it worth it to mod my first car already? I’d like to put an R-kit on it and some new wheels probably too. Don’t know what I’m about to do with the exhaust. Thanks

An important note. Remember that after the conversion the start/stop button will no longer be there. This is because the Android radios don't have one built in. I show how I converted it in my video. You need some technical understanding to carry out the conversion.

@hellojuned No, I mean the start/stop function. If you stop at a red light and hold down the brake, the engine switches off automatically. As soon as you release the brake, the engine starts again.

@ so I figured you have to connect to the og mmi. The CarPlay is just a display. Connect to the CarPlay first then to connect to the mmi

@@ThatGuyTyyIdk I couldn’t take the key out when I had my car in neutral for some reason, I had the key in the ignition turned to the left so the car was off but when I connected the power to the display there was a faint smoke from the motherboard. I also connected the ac climate panel connector towards the end, not sure if that was part of the issue but now the display doesnt turn on.

@Beatinu yeah the ignition should be fully off when connecting anything to the cluster as with key on or activating any information it should be sending power - not sure if there’s a fuse in the back but I’d start there. Mine is push to start so when I’m in neutral I can still key off, but when I do it alerts to put the car in park till I do which could have been your issue when reconnecting as it also powers the speaker in the cluster

@@ThatGuyTyy ahhh I got it man, I blew the 7.5 amp A3 fuse on the driver side responsible for all information electronics. I put my old MMI back in and the display didn't come on either so I was sure that it was a fuse that blew. I'm gonna try to put the android auto back in and hopefully that works despite it smoking from the motherboard previously.

When you have the Apple screen on and go into reverse does it automatically bring up the camera-small gripe but for me to do this that would be a stopper if it doesn’t thanks for the video

Make sure you hooked up the antenna like cables on the original radio and the one that was on the back of the original screen to the new harness. I missed the screen one my first time

@ Thanks for the response, i figured it out. After requesting additional instructions from the vendor, I was able to go into settings and set the rear camera to “Original” and it popped right up. Thanks again.
