John, Sincere thanks for the tutorial video. You saved my brother a lot of money by MY viewing your step by step repair video in replacing his water pump on his 4.0L 1998 Ford Explorer 4x4. God bless for your generosity!P.S: I wont tell you had the fan on backwards at first. That's one of MY stunts....lol. Thanks again man!

Good video showing how to remove and replace with one recommendation. Don't use the anaerobic sealant with a gasket. Unfortunately, it would be much more likely to develop a leak path because the adhesive must be in contact with a metal surface to cure; surfaces such as paper, cork or rubber prevent the adhesive from curing. Uncured adhesive remains liquid and will further degrade the non-metal components and possibly cause blockages or damage.

Thanks for the Video. This is my next job on a 2003 Ford Explorer with 2 heater cores. My engine is also a 4.0L but the placement of the air hose is different. A couple things I need before getting started is the fan clutch tool & that gasket maker. I also want to flush the system before I put it back together. Thanks again.

Thanks for this! I had to see how you put the new waterpump, fan and fan clutch back on. I have to remove the harmonic balancer on my '94 Ford Explorer 4.0L V6 Pushrod to replace my timing cover gasket by pulling everything from the front out without having to raise the engine. It would've been great to see a demonstration of that, so I'll just continue documenting my efforts with pictures. Maybe a video.

this was a big help. Once the auto shop gave me the right size tool the fan was off in 5 min. Shroud was different, 2 piece and once I figured that out 2 screws and only had to take out the top half of the shroud. One thing I'm wondering. Your hands look at least as big as mine. How the hell do you get in these tight spaces. I feel like a pretzel when I'm done

Lots of missing information, wheres the video of the pulley being reinstalled? Or the the pump removal and cleaning? Would have liked to see the belt installation as well.

You supposed to use sealant? I didn’t think you were supposed to
@atkgrl9 жыл бұрын
Didn't see where you put your hoses, pulley or belt back on then you say the video is for radiator replacement not power steering pump. Could you also add in text the silicone sealer your using? Should the pump be primed some how prior to staring the engine ? Thanks great video. Have it right next to me as I'm pulling my 2002 Ford Explorer sport trac apart !!! Thanks!

Do you have a pic of the Permatex Anaerobic gasket maker sealant or the part number? I am having trouble finding it. I looked at AutoZone and Pep Boys for it.

Yes, type "permatex anaerobic gasket maker" on Google, you will find a pic. It wont let me post a picture here, thanks

on a ford explorer how do you tell that the water pump is going i found radiator fluid in a pool on the motor?
@CarRepairsMadeEasy110 жыл бұрын
if the water pump is starting to leak you would likely see stains from the coolant somewhere on the pump or at the mounting locations where the gaskets are. you could also remove the belt and spin the pulley by hand, it should be smooth and turn freely and not have any play at the pulley shaft. if it does then the bearings are likely starting to go bad.
