You inspired me to do the same on my noisy inducer motor bearings. Lubed them up and now it runs quiet like new. Awesome idea and video…thank you and keep them coming!

Thank you! Motor was seizing up and it was going to take a few days to find and get the parts. You saved the day.

Great video!!!! Been searching for a 3 days for something like this and thank God you showed up! What type of grease was that and something as small grease inside of there can keep it from working???😳😳😳 can you tell me why that is and how do I know if that's my issue..my motor doesn't Mal any funny noises but it does work 1 min and shuts off then if I hit it repeatedly it will turn on for about 3 mins then stop again. Hit it and turns a lil bit and spots then turn on for 3 mins and cut back off....

As long as the bearings and races are in good shape you can grease and keep on going for awhile

I do the same. I have even stolen a 608 bearing from a skate board wheel to get one back in service. It's usually the side closest to the furnace that gets noisy first.

That was epic I work on washers & dryers they don’t pack bearings just use a dab of assembly grease or high temp grease but none the less not packed correctly

I agree I call this generation the disposal ones. People just run out to buy new instead of fixing it diy.

Your not wrong, even thing's like washing machine, one seal that seal's the tub at the bottom isn't serviceable but leaks 3years into a 5 year warranty, machine dumped, all the best to you and your loved ones

I would be interested to know how long this would last on a installed furnace. Replacing bearings does take some effort, and this seems like it may be easier. I wonder if this is a long-term solution or would require repacking the bearings from time to time.

Easy enough to do yearly if needed but I bet it lasts a few years

Interesting that yours uses bearings; mine just has sintered bronze bushings. Which I oil with 3-in-1 every few years.

Perhaps your inducer motor is exposed to more heat and that is why they use bushings. I've heard stories of people using too much oil and then they catch on fire

Jerry, where would you say the line is between "worn out" bearings and bearings that just need to be greased? Don't the symptoms look the same in both cases?
@TestDontguess
@TestDontguess 2 жыл бұрын
with experience you'll learn with numerous variables to make a decision based upon how it feels when it rolls, tightness of the race, usually cooked bearings will start to change colour, condition of the balls etc

@@TestDontguess tightness of the race pretty much nails what I was thinking about. After seeing you save bearings with grease numerous times over the years, I started to wonder if I've been too hasty in tossing. I think in my case, they've been worn. Thanks for replying and confirming.

Like any worn out bearing, there will be play in the shaft due to ball bearings getting smaller inside. No slop or play? Grease will do fine. This will apply to most bearings with car alternators, U-joints etc. as I have experience over 50 yrs working on cars and hot rods.

which grease did u use for inducer bearing?
@robertclymer6948
@robertclymer6948 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bill, any high temp grease will do. I like the Red EP (extreme pressure) that i use for repacking car wheel bearings etc. Tube of it, or can at any auto parts store for under $10

Just did the same thing to my ac compressor pulley on my zj. Stuck the needle under the bearing cover and filled her up.

Let me know how it goes, if the bearings and race are damaged from running dry too long it won’t help

@@TestDontguess I'll let ya know what I find, I think a capacitor might be bad, it gets to where it sounds like it should be.. then it continues to fire off like a jet turbine. I don't know if it's the bearings or the lack of a speed cap
