Excited to get my own board (just ordered.) Our Canadian made Crokinole board has been a mainstay with everyone for over a decade now, and I'm delighted to give this a go. I also added the solids/stripes discs and want to try a 9-ball variant, too. 😄

Loved trying this out at UK Board Games expo. The board was excellent quality and the pieces just felt right, it was really obvious a lot of time had gone into getting the weights and glide of the pieces satisfyingly precise. Definitely recommend it! ... I'm just working on convincing my dad to go halves on a set now ;)

As an avid Carrom player I can't wait to try this! My tip to folks out there is the best Carrom powder is not the branded stuff, it's acrylic powder used for painting nails. You can buy huge tubs of it for cheap and its much finer/more effective than the cheap crap that comes in Carrom powder shakers, a lot of which is toxic
@SteveinJersey12342 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip! Could you kindly refer us to a source for this? Or even just a product name to search for?

Phillip, you must be a mind reader! They are quite literally on the drawing board at the moment! They won't be available until early 2022 though:-)

Very nice game. A mini Snooker style... and the turning table. At 6:40-, why did you place the green on the black circle, should it not be placed back to the green spot again?
@ArkanoidZero Жыл бұрын
its the same respotting rule as in snooker, the spot must be fully uncovered, or the respot goes to the highest value open spot.

At 5:29 you move the white counter. Whats the ruling here?
@carrooka3607 Жыл бұрын
Sorry for my slow reply. If the striker (white) lands hard on the rail or behind the margin line around the pocket, you can move it out a little, it must still be touching the margin line. It just allows you to get a finger behind the striker.

Why not wax the board like in Crokinole? Then you don't really need the probably really bad for you Teflon powder
@carrooka36072 жыл бұрын
Hello Niko, thank you for your message. The boards are waxed! It's the final part of the process after many rounds of fine sanding and varnishing. The use of powder is entirely optional, but as with Carrom- Carrooka utIlises rebound shots off the rail, so additional powder can make it more challenging and opens up more shot possibilities. There are lots of powder options, including vegetable starch (and we're just in the process of having a go with shuffleboard wax powder), the Teflon one we sell separately to the board is our preference performance wise, but we've hopefully left it up to everyone to decide for themselves.

What happens to the striker at 42 seconds? It seems scared of the pocket! Is that static?

Looks like a great game. Why do you use a 2-shot penalty (as in pool) for fouls, instead of penalty points (as in snooker)?
@carrooka3607 Жыл бұрын
When we started out we were using snooker penalty points but it made for so much imbalance that it wasn’t fun. The pool foul version really improved flow. No reason why you can’t try it both ways!

Really like the look of this to put in our reception area for customers to play. How often do you need to powder the table? Does you finger hurt after a while from flicking?
@carrooka36073 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a fab idea! How much powder kind of depends on how much play. I would imagine once a day would be fine. We’ve not had any sore finger reports yet and it doesn’t hurt ours! But now we’re busily inventing little finger guards as an add-on😉😀

All the color pucks should all be 2 pts until all the reds are gone. That way the game is more tense at the end and getting the colored pucks in order is tense.
@robertburke5354 Жыл бұрын
It's simulating a game of snooker, in which reds are worth 1 each, the yellow 2, the green 3, the brown 4, the blue 5, the pink 6, and the black 7. Of course, you can make up your own "house rules" if you want to.
