I much prefer NIKWAX Tech Wash over Dawn dishwashing soap for cleaning my bags. The Teach Wash releases from the straps, webbing and fabric of the bag much easier and much more thoroughly than Dawn. It is also extremely effective at removing even the most ground-in dirt and oils completely. I also prefer to use a robust and slightly soft brush and continually immerse the brush in the Tech Wash and scrub clean the bag completely then run the bag under the bathtub facet or hose outside, this way my bag is not completely submerged in a tub full of the oils and dirt I am trying to remove during the cleaning process. And since bacteria starts to form and grow immediately once a bag is wet I do not allow my bags to take a full day to dry indoors or a shaded area outside just hanging somewhere. I always set my bags in front of a high-powered fan blowing directly into the bag to get it fully dried as quickly as possible.

Thanks for sharing! I avoid tech wash for waxed bags as I find it can leave a film like residue on the cotton or canvas, but it certainly works well on nylons etc. The rubber bristled brush shown here does a great job during the cleaning process too, much like you described! Appreciate your input 😊

@@CarryologyTV Oh no kidding? I don't have a single waxed canvas piece in my collection, so that I would not have tried and experienced that. I'll definitely keep that in mind. 👍

Thanks for the detailed walkthrough. I never fully immersed my Trakke wet wax gear so far as I thought it might destroy anything. How do you cope with leather applications, eg on a Bedouin Genghis? And is there a chance to remove wax that transferred into the inner lining? Happened on my Modern Industry Drive white inner canvas lining.

Leather can be a bit more complicated, as you don't want it to be wet for too long. Although, don't forget, often we soak leather to cut it/make patterns on it, so done in the right way it's perfectly safe. If you don't feel comfortable with that, you can essentially clean a section of the waxed canvas at a time so you don't have to worry about soaking it. This just requires a bit more elbow grease! Regarding wax that has transferred to the inner lining - that's definitely a case of spot clean as best you can! Hope this helps, thanks for watching.
