A couple of tips to add as an alex main. Your dragon abilities are entirely separated from your human ones, meaning no W talents will affect your dragon W and casting W in one form won't trigger couldown on the other W for example. Your dragonqueen is 15 seconds duration baseline and your dragon W is 16 seconds couldown, which means that before level 10 you can get only one dragon W out of your dragonqueen cast, so feel free to hold it and plan it accordingly throughout the entire dragonqueen duration. This tip applies for the lvl 20 upgrade of cleansing flames aswel. If you dragon from cleansing flame without trait you are still with a 15 second dragon and 1 dragon W. During cleansing flame your dragon duration is paused but your couldowns are not, so if you opt for cleansing flame post level 10, you can get two dragon Ws if your ability sequence is Dragonqueen => W => R => W. It's been a while since I've tested all combos in try mode so I don't remember quite well but I think once you are 16 you can barely fit 3 dragon Ws in your duration if you use W as soon as you enter dragonqueen and then ult, I think you got one last third W just as your dragon runs out. You are definitely reaching 3 dragon Ws with ruby wings. Aside from the dragon shenanigans one last tip is, if you are being chased, place your W on max range on your escape path as you are running. That way if someone slows you by even something as small as 10% for 2-3 seconds your W will heal you as you run away and you will even get your movespeed in the W build alongside the healing. If no one slows you then you just have to wait for like 0.25 seconds on the edge of your W juking and you get the healing and speed. Edit: Both Dragonqueen and Cleansing flame can be used as a gamble to survive against certain heroes. If a tracer/malthael ult you and their ults trigger after you are in the air from cleansing flame then both ults trigger while you are in a state of invincibility (you can't die during cleansing flame) and nothing happens. Dragonqueen could also work because there are two 0.25 seconds invincibility intervals between transforming back into human/dragon and both could save you from such ultimates. Those intervals could also backfire against you though, they can make you "disappear" from the map for 0.25 seconds and interrupt your channel on hearthstone/objective(as shown in the video) or make you miss your own Ws from healing you! Cleansing flame could also *sometimes* be beneficial to be cast as a pseudo global, you can, in fact, cross a huge distance with it and for example, surprise the enemy team by getting an altar/curse/etc. or save a dying teammate getting ganked on tomb, by flying with 1-2 charges and healing your team member with the other 3. The final tip, I forgot to mention, is kind of risky, actually (it was mentioned in the video) but dragon form + cleansing flame can also be used as a surprise flank from you. If you are landing as a dragon during cleansing flame you can land behind the backline of the enemy team and push them back into your own team with your dragon E, pacify one of the squishy targets that are out of position, and continue dropping healing and auto attacking them (works wonders with sanc tyrael). It's not always the go to and it's usually recommended to be done after their team has lost a few heroes or are about to lose them, but it's something worth considering mid-flight.

@@AnthonyWabo Мерси майна ☺️ Yargolocus Yeah, that's true, it's always situational and something to consider as you are running. That being said attempting to place a successful W is better than doing nothing, but running away in panic. Generally speaking, when you're getting ganked and their entire team is not present they can't hard CC you for 3 seconds most of the time and you can still barely reach the closer threshold of your healing circle. Even if you miss the circle (if the gank happened post lvl 10) and it's done by say a muradin and a hanzo, it might give you a chance to bait storm bolt and arrow out "in order to prevent you from healing with your own W" and then you can give it a try to use cleansing flame back in safety. You're still going to die most of time, we are a squishy support after all, but it can make a difference to try and outplay your enemies.

@@hristopavlov298 Along this point, I'd also mention not to forget that your W has a big impact on the psychology of the rest of your team. If your frontliners are flirting with disaster, you can place your W on a retreat path. It signals to them if they want the heal, they need to back. But it also signals that if they engage, they wont have a W heal to back them up mid fight. This allows Alex to exert more control over her teammates decision making than most other healers can.

I came to conclusion that support is one of the best roles to carry - while range assassin is (despite from bronze - low gold) the worst - because most need set up or follow up. A support can save squishy teammates easily - for example with aegis/divine shiled/Ancestral. If you see these situations you can impcat teamfights way more than with straight dmg.

I feel like Alexstraza is pretty dependent on your own teammates understanding how she works. Someone like Lucio or Morales your team is kinda free to do what they want and generally you can pick up the slack in an instant thanks to on demand or constant healing, but with Alex- especially W build- I find my teammates always diving and getting super low thinking that all of my big healing is just going to happen up front rather than take a while to bloom (and be very position dependent)

yeah kinda noticed that aswell. literally teammates who stand in your W waiting the whole cast time in there basically asking to get hit by skill shot, instead of going in there last sec. Or even better, walking out last second. you activate dragon queen and your team leaves the fight or hides behind you. But when dragon queen is over, they charge in. Very powerful healer especially with melee heavy teams, but very team dependant. On lower ranks you're better off playing a hero that can carry more on its own, like malf or something like that.

pro alex tip; her dragonform has the same channel time as cleansing flame and once you're in dragonform cleansing flame is instant, meaning that if you're fully committed to a fight and it's time for your cleansing flame you can throw everything you have, pop dragon, throw everything you can and then use your ult. It'll add like half a second to the cast time but you'll get four heals out and then vanish

quick Q; if alex's dragon guarentees obj, why not take her level one E talent? At level 20 it gives you 100% uptime on dragon until teamfight is over

By level 20 you will have had at least three curses go out, whether they are your team's or your enemy's. The game should be wrapping up by that point, and Alex's E build is missing the key talent until you hit level 20. It's a long time to wait. On top of that, Dragonqueen is a cooldown that can be countered, her E build does the least healing because it doesn't add anything to her base tool kit (aside from sustain during team fights) and you can't top your team off effectively between fights.

Life binder is great if you're Cho'Gall's healer, it's one of the main reasons why Alex is one of the main alternatives to Auriel.

I love Alexstrasza. Unfortunately I might be the worst Alex in the game. I struggle with the fact that, in my pleb experience, she's the most punishable healer in the game. W's are begging for AoE spells and Q build is cancelled by a minimal amount of damage.
