Actually what's funny is I asked Willian about that really messed up so called deleted scene called McQueens nightmare you can look it up but the scene is about McQueen having a nightmare where he wins the piston cup but right as he reaches the finish line that's where shit hits the fan McQueen starts to to stall out of nowhere and then his engine literally pops out of his body and then just floats away and then if that wasn't bad enough while McQueen is screaming in terror the track disappears and he falls into a dark abyss and that's the end at first I thought it was fake but there are pictures of it in the official art of cars book and I asked Willian if he had it on his list of deleted scenes to animate and he said this to me yes I have it planned it might be a Halloween special

Honestly, as a person who has Cars as his second favorite movie after Toy Story, I’m very glad that this scene was removed completely from the actual movie, not only because it’s too dark and horror-movie-disturbing that it would have made Radiator Springs look like a bunch of psychopaths and made McQueen be in the right to call the town a “Hillbilly Hell”, but also because, in my personal opinion, Mater being such a betrayer that would steal his friend’s body and life and refuse to give them back unless his friend finished the road makes the overuse of Mater in Cars 2 look 100% more appropriate to watch by comparison.

But that was just dream/nightmare version of Mater. Showing that this scene took place way before the bonding moment between Mater & Mcqueen with the Tractor 🚜 Tipping scene. It shows that originally in McQueen's mind before he got to really know Mater, he sees him as this terrible red neck hillbilly stereotype. Notice at the beginning of this deleted scene, Mater was niave and oblivious to what Community Service is, he was being honest with McQueen, he didn't know what exactly Doc & Sherriff was gonna have him do in the morning. It fits with McQueen's attitude towards Mater during the 1st half of the movie where he didn't really like Mater and sees him as a part of this "Hillbilly Hell" image he led himself to believe. Like later in the movie when Sally said, "You Know, Mater Trusts You." And McQueen was baffled and didn't know how to respond or take that, hence why he said, "Yeah, ok..." In an unsure way. Showing that he didn't see Mater as a friend before.
