Random instantaneous thought: It would be neat to see an NS with a CSX then a UP engine on a train(feel free to mix the three or even add BNSF into the mix)

I got to be a rail fan yesterday for the first time in what seems like forever, JT! I was on my way to the doctor, going through the country and approaching a crossing when the stop arms went down. It was a 148 car intermodal probably traveling from Chicago to Fort Wayne, IN. There was nobody else around, so I had the train all to myself. I was pretty excited! 😃😃😃😃❤❤❤❤

Chessie is just super! Patient, smart, sweet, puts up with Loki...great dog. Glad Loki seems a bit calmer. Guess Norfie just mostly avoids Loki. The new kitty is sure growing fast. As always, the trains show the lifeblood of America. Hope Brandy and the horse are doing OK. Glad NS engineer stood on the horn!

In the 90s my buddy and I took Amtrack to Essex MT. On the way home the train hit a Ford pickup at a unprotected grade crossing. It was early Sat morning. Nothing left of the truck or driver but smoking rubble. They had to jack the truck engine from under the loco. No damage to train. So folks, always check a few times before crossing RR tracks, and SLOW DOWN !! Man Jaw tooth, you do catch some monster consists !!!!

Thank y9ou for another fantastic day of railfanning on The Hill in Crescent Springs, Kentucky, Jaw Tooth! The trains going up The Hill were lo=ng and heavy. The first train was creeping up The Hill even with the help of a mid-train DPU. The driver who was turning around as the gates were lowering and the drivers who drove around the gates were taking their lives in their hands. This was the first time in a long while that you caught a manned helper unit on a Norfolk Southern train going up The Hill. The manned helper moved much faster going down The Hill at the Beechwood Road crossing than it did going up. (Posted 22 August 2024 at 1311 CDT.)
