*Jolion got heated seats as well. And yes you can manually rotate the 360 camera in Jolion. Pretty happy with my Jolion. With that kind of money you can’t wish for anything else tbh
@carsales Жыл бұрын
Yes, you are correct about both. Feann says the Haval has heated seats, in a weird olde worlde way: "As in its rival, the Omoda has heated seats." He also mentions the Haval has a 3D mode with the reversing camera but he reckons it wouldn't rotate in the test car. Could've been a glitch. These cars do have a few 'quirks'.

Not sure I agree. These are decent, feature packed cars and the opposition is stressing a bit. We will do ourselves a disservice if we don't at least go test-drive them for ourselves.

Not liking a car brand or origin for political reasons can be perfectly fine. The fact that some Chinese brands are built with convict labour or that their pricing is supported by the government or they make use of stolen technologies etc are an entirely valid basis for decision against them. Different people will have different priorities for decision.

Chinese manufacturers have always supplied German car manufacturers. The parts in the Haval Jolion HEV are Bocsh. I guess the tables have turned. Time for people to wake up and smell the Chow Mein. This car is the Bruce Lee of the motor industry. Strength, Panache and efficiency.

I've test driven both and selected the Jolion - easily. The blocker for me with the Omada was the steering wheel to road disconnection - fix that up and I'll reconsider.

Carsauce review of these cars are objective and professional. This bloke starts off with the gratuitous cheap and nasty bs and concludes they are like Korean cars 20 years ago. Meanwhile Hyundai and Kia are losing market share. What a coincidence.
@carsales Жыл бұрын
We just watched the carsauce reviews and they are rather amusing. The singing and joking around is entertaining but your idea of professional may be different to ours. Also, you're referring to two separate reviews of two cars tested in isolation, not a comparison like this one. Sure, the Sauce bros do a great job appealing to a younger audience who want to be entertained with lots of wild hand gestures, but we're here as consumer advocates and our journalists give you the truth. And for the record we crap on all sorts of cars, not just cheap ones. If you watch the full video you'll see that the car reviewer actually praises many elements for their high quality feel. Anyways, the Carsauce guys are clever in their approach, often having a dig are established names in order to be a bit controversial, and that's fine if they want to do that. It's a clever way to get lots of views. Most of our team have been testing cars for more than a decade. Feann, who hosts this vid for example, has been test driving cars since 2001.

An excellent review and greatly appreciated. We are tossing up btn a 5 year old Hyundai >100,000km or 2024 Haval. I am personally heading towards a 5- 7 year warranty with the Haval. Friends love them and the depreciation over 5 years is circa $12K compared to $25k - $40K for a competitor. FYI we already own a Hyundai Sante Fe 2017 and still love it and will hold on to it.

Fantastic review! I was thinking of getting something to replace my parents' dreadful 2006 Honda Odyssey. Given the price and the amenities, the Chery seems to be the right fit for them, I reckon. Thanks for the heads up regarding turning off the "driver assistance" garbage.

Comparing these to Korean cars 20 years ago was a good way explaining them, except should have said 5 or so years ago. In 10 years these cars will take over the Korean brands if they advance that fast.

All very well and a tempting value proposition. What's mostly been ignored for years though in new car reviews, is longevity. And now with these Chinese cars it's an even greater mystery. Scan the used car ads for lowish km cars with busted CVT transmissions and cracked heads and/or failed engines - you'll find tonnes of them.. the least of them from Japanese production - Toyota, Mazda and Honda. Sure, you get a warranty with these cars. But will you even get properly looked after during the warranty period? I know many people who have not. We're talking 6 months with their 'new' car off the road. One company I know has a total of 10 Chinese built cars from 1 particular brand - at any given time, at least one of them is in the shop! They have never been in service together at any one time since new!! These vehicles are going to have to remain cheap and propped up by ever-lengthening warranties and improving customer care. I'll love to be proven wrong, but I am tipping a lot of heartache for many of these owners.
