EDIT: We've changed the title to "First Drive" which is a more accurate description. The guy who uploaded the video in the holidays is a num-nut it seems! ORIGINAL: We had the car for 24 hours and as per most new car launches it's impossible to provide an authoritative verdict with such limited time with the product. We generally produce our 5 minute "what you need to know" videos such as initially, and when we get the car for 7 or 14 days we do a more detailed video - between 15 and 20 mins. We should probably be clearer with our video types and we're always learning and trying to improve our videos so we appreciate the feedback. As Bruce mentions in the vid, we'll have a more details once we have the vehicle on full test. However, we also have a full written review with more detail here: www.carsales.com.au/editorial/details/xpeng-g6-long-range-2025-review-148325/ Hope that helps and we'll have a more exhaustive video soon!

@@AlexY1321 Bruce is one of Australia's most experienced car testers, and has been in this caper for decades. He's probably tested more cars than this moderator has had hot lunches! He doesn't drink the coolade with any brand and this first drive (WYNTK) piece is 100% fair and unbiased. Brands like Xpeng and BYD are super impressive and changing the game, but they're far from flawless and won't appeal to all and sundry. If you really believe it was unfair and biased, reply to this comment with your list and we'll be happy to discuss with you on this open forum.

There's a lot of negative reviews here. Firstly, respect to Carsales for keeping the video up and responding to the critical comments which is good to see from a massive company. The video isn't great but it also isn't the worst. It's obviously just a short intro to this new car so can't expect it to be too comprehensive. The part that was a letdown for me was when he was talking about the steering and how he mentioned he was unsure if he had turned on/off the buttons etc. this shows a lack of respect toward the car brand and comes across as a somewhat half assed job. Many viewers such as myself would love to be in his position getting paid to make car reviews. On that note, let me know if you're currently looking at hiring.

Car reviewers are so frustrating. They think comfort is a bad word. Can we have non-Luddites reviewing new EVs please, as these cars are all about the tech. I want to know things like the size of the boot, whether there is a shade for the obligatory glass roof. If I watch another review that whinges about physical buttons or generally lack thereof I will scream. Have some individuality please. Some people, myself included would never buy a Tesla unless the company parted ways with the misogynist bully who delights in sacking staff. Watching EV reviews praising a car that farts, and doesn’t have a speedo in the drivers vision, nor does it have Apple CarPlay, yet it’s held up as the gold standard. It’s mind numbing.

Agreed, there needs to be more reviewers focused on comfort and convenience to service everyone who drives daily to work and does decent distances who just want the most comfortable and serene experience. While I enjoy a 'dynamic and engaging vehicle' from time to time, realistically I want to be comfortable most of the time and the same would be said by my entire family, not a soul actually cares about how 'engaging' the steering feels. My partner complains about how heavy my steering wheel is on my hydraulically controlled system is on my older BMW, couldn't care less about how much 'feeling' it has. Increasingly these traditional car reviewers are becoming irrelevant because they aren't comparing the things that really matter to the general public. If they did perhaps they would have a higher following and really influence car buying of the general public and not just 'enthuisiests'.

I like that this channel can't be bought easily by one brand or another. Most "influencers" are not so independent or lack the resources to be and tend to try to catch the popular opinion wave in order to survive. I'm only interested in what a car can do and how well it performs those functions. I couldn't care less for any assistive tech if those things are annoying or can make my driving feel uncontrolled and dangerous and they need to be easily switched off if possible. I look forward to a more in depth review of the relevant stuff.

Maybe the reviewer is entitled to be less than enthusiastic about the car? Maybe he, as many of us do, are entitled to value characteristics like steering feel, dynamics and ergonomics, and there's no reason to be personally slighted if someone calls out a manufacturer on these especially as there are plenty of manufacturers who can get this right. Physical switchgear for common functions is also a matter of safety, and I think you might find that the move away from physical switchgear isn't being driven by customer demand but because it's cheaper for the company to put it all through a touch-screen and because designers wet themselves over minimalism at the moment. It's is better from ergonomics or safety point-of-view just because it's 'tech', Tech isn't synonymous with progress or 'better' . Stop forming parasocial relationships with car-brands or types of cars be they EV's or ICE vehicles. It's pathetic. If the car is sub-par in the driving experience, many people want to know.
