By not having the turning points located over your cv joints, means when you turn the shaft will have to increase in length a lot.

@dylan zrim I am a mom,and while I may not be as much fun as your mom,at a party, I can tell you my son got an idea to build a "kart" out of a Radio Flyer wagon, an idea he got here. You guys are so much better at this than you were a few years ago (I don't know, whenever I started watching you and annoying you with "you needed to do it like..." comments), but if you're going to be building vehicles with independent suspensions and going 40, 60, 80... mph in them you really need to get a better handle on suspension geometry. 2 major things in this one: - caster- about 5-10* is the typical dedicated drag car/dragster, 3-6* for a fast road race car, and 2-4* for your average street car. Everything that I've seen you build, including the rail, I would just set it at 5* and make sure it's the same side to side loaded. - Ackerman- where did you get the idea that you need a rear steer linkage to have Ackerman? Front steer is generally the preferred design for most applications for multiple reasons, and you can get ackerman with it. The only reason that you see rear steer at all is really packaging reasons.

Potential idea for the chain tensioning, which is to have 2 small gears that freely spin, pushing in the chain from both the top and bottom, right as the chain exits thru the hole for the mounting point on the frame for the lower arms for the front suspension and whatnot.

With that first suspension set up you are not only running a ton of leverage advantage, it is also what you call "falling rate", meaning the more that it compresses the more the leverage advantage increases. At some point it could potentially not compress the shock at all.

You guys should consider using spherical bearings with housings that you stake the bearings into for your A-Arms. You have all of your suspension rod ends in bending which makes them very prone to failure

First off I just want to say I love the videos you guys do. I always try to be positive because I hate how negative comment sections normally are. Now that being said that front suspension is just... wow. The only real term that comes to mind is dumpster fire. I am not saying that it won't work after a fashion but I do know that I wouldn't feel ok letting anyone rude it if I built it that way. From the rediculious task of routing that chain through the maze of suspension mounts to the axel binding because of inaccurate turning points it's just totally.... wow.

So, king pin inclination vs castor. You're measuring KPI and not castor. Yes, the measurement will essentially be the same as your camber angle, BUT if you run 10 degrees camber you're also running 10 degrees KPI which is WAAAAY too much. You should be setting your KPI at 2 degrees maximum and set your castor by moving the pivot points of the upper and lower control arm. It'll work, but your steering will be super heavy
@fawkyooo73774 жыл бұрын
This is just something to take a look at your G-Code Software is messing up. It should be cutting the inner circle out [Bolt holes] Before it cuts the outer perimeter. That way your bolt holes are always the same on every plate and the plate doesn't shift while cutting the bolt holes.
